How Are Security Installers Finding The Market – In SEN’s latest poll, we asked security installers how they were finding the market early 2025.
It goes without saying that thanks to the Reserve Bank wielding interest rates like a cudgel, discretionary spending in Australia has been in short supply. With overall economic growth at a near standstill, the central bank eased rates on February 18 for the first time in more than 4 years.
Given the economic conditions we thought poll results would be rather different, but the people at the sharp end of the electronic security industry aren’t all doing it as tough as we believed they were.
First up, there have now been 115 votes – we’d prefer 150 votes, so feel free to vote here if you haven’t and we’ll adjust our numbers as they come in. It’s fair to say 115 votes isn’t a huge median but it’s sufficient to get a worthwhile approximation of the state of the market from an installer point of view.

Of the installers that voted 7 (6.09 per cent) said the market was dead as a dodo, while 11 voters (9.57 per cent) said business was down. Meanwhile, the largest group – 30 voters (26.09 per cent) – said business was flat.
On the other side of the coin, 23 voters (20 per cent) said they were experiencing slight growth, while 28 voters (24.35 per cent) said their business was enjoying strong growth. Finally, 16 voters (13.91 per cent) said business was going gang busters.
Taking these generalisations to the next level, the poll suggested 48 installers were finding business flat or down, while 67 installers were experiencing growth – of these 44 were experiencing strong growth.
While the poll was not discerning enough to tell us which electronic security verticals the installers experiencing strong growth were operating in, it’s likely it was alarms, access control and automation, as well as high-end CCTV projects.
