Iomega Appoints Lan 1 To Supply NAS Solutions

Lan 1 was eager to access Iomega’s line of NAS primarily to address the channel’s demands for a cost-effective storage solution. This enables them to leverage the rapidly evolving virtualisation and cloud opportunities in the physical surveillance and security markets.
Distribution via their Reseller data channel is also key; IX/PX’s personal cloud and disaster recovery capabilities and EMC’s LifelineOS support of Win2k8r2, VMware and Citrix highlight Iomega as a true value add Storage platform.
“The majority of small and medium organisations around Australia cannot afford to manage a distributed video storage solution – with the NBN rapidly becoming a reality we are seeing a definite trend towards businesses using the internet to stream and record high-resolution IP CCTV video footage.
With the Iomega IX and PX NAS appliances now part of our range, Lan 1 Channel Partners can offer their customers a centralised cloud-based video storage solution without the overheads typically associated with a distributed solution. Additionally, Iomega’s out-of-the-box integration with the Axis Communications range of IP CCTV cameras provides remote configuration and management capabilities, presenting a number of noticable cost-benefits throughout the entire channel ” said Matthew Brand, business manager at Lan 1.
“The synergy between the ICT and physical security industries has never been more prevalent – most security integrators are already leveraging IP technologies such as virtualisation and wireless,” said Basil Delimitros, IP CCTV Business Manager at Lan 1.
“As these technologies become more main stream it’s important that we innovate, aiding our partners to maintain their competitive advantage. The addition of Iomega will allow security integrators to utilise cloud storage technology and offer managed surveillance services to their customers, which is something quite new to the IP CCTV market and very similar to the business model used by traditional MSPs”.
According to Chester Chiew, business manager ANZ, Iomega: “Lan 1 has built a strong reputation in the physical security market as value-add distributor who offers complete IP solutions including everything from the camera hardware through to the networking, security and storage layers.
“Lan 1’s high level of customer service and brand recognition, coupled with their heritage in IP storage, networking, security and CCTV makes this appointment the perfect  addition to Iomega’s local partner network.”
