Australian Department of Defence is seeking security infrastructure for Irwin Barracks in Western Australia, an Australian Army military base located on a 150-acre site at Karrakatta.

A number of critical Australian Defence Force operational bases, maritime, air, land, Special Forces, intelligence, space capabilities, and training facilities are based in Western Australia. Defence’s presence and investment in northern Australia, including in Western Australia, is being increased to support a more capable future force and a more active defence posture as part of a 10-year, $A2.5 billion investment programme.

Redevelopment of Australian Defence facilities in Western Australia include Irwin Barracks, Defence Establishment Harold E Holt, RAAF Base Curtin, RAAF Base Pearce, RAAF Base Learmonth, Campbell Barracks, Yampi Sound Training Area and HMAS Stirling.

The current scope of works at Irwin Barracks includes provision of new electrical and security modules and systems in order to meet compliance requirements. Works involve installation of CCTV, underground power and communication cable conduits, as well as information and communications technology.

Irwin Barracks is the headquarters of 13th Brigade, an Army Reserve formation of the Australian Army. The 13th Brigade currently consists of the following units:

* Headquarters 13th Brigade
* ‘A’ Squadron, 10th Light Horse Regiment
