Nambour Allocates $A1.1M for CCTV To Improve Security And Safety.

Nambour Allocates $A1.1M for CCTV – Sunshine Coast’s Nambour CBD will receive $A1.1 million for a CCTV system and permanent police beat to improve security and address anti-social behaviour.

The initiative is expected to increase public safety and assist law enforcement in monitoring and responding to incidents across the area. Nambour Chamber of Commerce has acknowledged the impact anti-social behaviour has had on local businesses, particularly around the town square.

The introduction of live-monitored cameras is expected to reinforce security measures, complementing the presence of the new police beat. The CCTV system will integrate with existing infrastructure, providing live-feed monitoring directly to Nambour Police Station. The deployment will focus on high-traffic areas, supporting law enforcement efforts in deterring criminal activity and maintaining a safer environment for businesses and residents.

Business owners have raised concerns over security for many years, with incidents prompting calls for increased law enforcement presence and CCTV. The permanent police beat, once operational, will provide direct engagement between police and the local community.

Authorities have yet to announce the final locations and installation timeline for the CCTV system and police beat. Further details are expected following the release of the Queensland state budget.
