NBN Unveils Turbocharging Plan – In news certain to please electronic security people looking to assist customers into cloud applications, NBN has unveiled plans to deliver 500/50Mbps internet speeds to 9 million Australian customers by the end of 2024.
The vastly accelerated internet speed will apply to customers with fibre to the premises or hybrid fibre coaxial NBN connections and will come with no additional wholesale costs to suppliers and should arrive with no extra cost to users.
The enhanced fibre network infrastructure required to deliver the enhancements has been completed and NBN is currently working on speed upgrades, with retailers able to comment on the plans until April 19.
“We are proposing to deliver these accelerated speeds at no extra wholesale cost to internet retailers,” NBN Co chief customer officer Anna Perrin said.

“By working together with the industry, we hope to deliver these accelerated services to customers later this year or early next year,” Perrin said.
NBN could boost Australia’s economy by nearly half a trillion dollars, which would have a positive impact not only on the local economy, but key partner economies, such as NZ, as well.
Driving NBN’s upgrade are commercial realities – users have been abandoning NBN, particularly in regional areas where users have shown themselves to be prepared to pay significantly more money for much more dependable and higher performance Starlink satellite internet services.
