IN a move we’re likely to see more of, customers on a Telstra network can now deploy Netgear’s Arlo Go 4G camera with no need for Wi-Fi.
Netgear’s Arlo Go is a 4G camera that sends instant, customisable alerts straight to a user’s synced smartphone, tablet or email whenever movement is detected. Features include night-vision functionality and a fully weatherproof design. The camera records video at 720p, uses 10 infrared LEDS to provide up to 25 feet of night vision, and has a 130-degree field of view and an 8x digital zoom. It also has a speaker and a microphone for 2-way audio communication.
Arlo Go measures (HWD), weighs 11.8 ounces (with battery), and has a mounting hole on its base that attaches to a black, heavy-duty metal stand that can be attached to a wall, a tree, or any hard surface using the included mounting hardware. It has an IP65 weatherproof rating and sits idle until the Live button is pressed or when a sound or motion event triggers a recording to the onboard SD card.
The rechargeable lithium-ion battery pack is rated up to 3 months, depending on recording frequency and how often you initiate a live stream. If that’s not enough, you can pick up an Arlo Solar Panel, which keeps the battery charged on a few hours of sunlight per day.
