New DINION Thermal 8100i Detects Intrusion At 600 Metres In Challenging Environments.

New DINION Thermal 8100i Detects Intrusion At 600 Metres – DINION thermal 8100i is a high-performance thermal bullet camera designed to provide reliable long-range intrusion detection in challenging environments at ranges of nearly 600 metres.

The camera is designed for 24/7 operation in fixed perimeter roles and integrates with Bosch’s broader video management ecosystem.

Featuring a high-sensitivity uncooled VOx microbolometer, the camera detects subtle temperature differences regardless of ambient lighting conditions. This allows detection of intruders through fog, rain, smoke, or total darkness. The camera is ideal for perimeter surveillance in remote or high-security applications, such as borders, utilities, airports, and critical infrastructure.

With IVA Pro Perimeter onboard, the DINION thermal 8100i detects upright, crawling, rolling, or camouflaged individuals up to 586 metres away. The analytics engine layers multiple AI technologies, reducing false alarms and minimising setup time through autocalibration undertaken by 1 technician.

The system can detect and classify people, vehicles, trucks, and motorcycles, with geolocation metadata that supports intuitive object tracking across large areas. Wide-angle models with fields of view up to 80 degrees reduce the number of cameras required, lowering overall system cost and complexity.

Thermal performance is optimised by features such as Auto Contrast Mode, which adapts dynamically to lighting and weather conditions, and user-defined contrast zones that suppress extreme temperature sources like sunlight or hot rooftops. In VGA models, a Germanium window enhances lens protection without compromising transmission quality, while the concave housing and automatic defroster help maintain visibility in freezing or dusty environments. Certified to IP66/IP67, NEMA TS-2, and ISO 14993, the camera resists impact, corrosion, and adverse weather conditions.

Cybersecurity is enhanced by a built-in Secure Element certified to Common Criteria EAL6+. The unit meets NDAA 889 and TAA compliance and supports advanced security standards such as IEC 62443-4-1 and UL 2900-2-3 Level 3. The Secure Element includes 4096-bit key encryption for protection against cyber threats.

The DINION thermal 8100i range includes both QVGA and VGA models. VGA models deliver increased resolution and sensitivity, while QVGA models provide wide-area awareness with reduced bandwidth and storage requirements. Installation is simplified through a 3-step workflow, and that single technician can deploy and calibrate the system using AI-driven autocalibration -that’s cool.

Thermal imaging cameras like this DINION thermal 8100i are well-suited to sites where traditional video surveillance cameras have no hope of detecting intrusion without significant supporting infrastructure and dozens of camera points. These applications include poor light, large perimeters without ambient lighting, obscured fields of view, or extreme temperature environments, bush close to the perimeter fence, adjacent bodies of water and loads more.

Far be it from SEN to drone on in a product introduction, but by reducing false positives through AI-based analytics, thermal systems like this DINION thermal 8100i, support faster response times and deliver more efficient security operations. Because thermal cameras don’t rely on colour contrast for IVA detection, which can be affected by clothing, camouflage, or surface reflectivity, they are more effective in identifying the thermal signatures of people or vehicles that signify intrusion, especially at extreme ranges.

We think IVA-powered thermal cameras offer the best performing and least expensive perimeter intrusion detection performance for many applications, especially if there’s open space on either side of your boundary.
