Optic Security Recognised At NZ OSPAs
♦ Optic Security Recognised at NZ OSPAs – ANZ security integrator Optic Security Group has had 2 staff recognised as category winners at the first NZ OSPAs.
Pete Mason has been recognised for his outstanding performance as Optic’s New Zealand operations director, winning the Outstanding Contract Security Manager/Director award. This award acknowledges an individual who through security expertise, business acumen and/or leadership, has led the security portfolio with distinction for both their company and their client organisation.
As operations director, Mason led project delivery teams and large-scale projects across the length and breadth of Aotearoa New Zealand, including the national Managed Isolation and Quarantine (MIQ) electronic security enhancement project for the Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment (MBIE).
With a delivery window of just 3 months, Mason steered Optic’s delivery of security enhancements across all MIQ facilities in a project that involved over 15,500 technician hours.
“Pete is an inspirational technical delivery leader, team focused and committed to delivering exceptional service on a 24/7 basis,” said Optic Security Group general manager, Mark Lloyd. “He lives by his personal motto ‘solutions not problems’.”
Meanwhile, Nicholas Dynon was recognised for his outstanding contribution to New Zealand’s security sector, taking home the Lifetime Achievement Award. This award recognises an individual who has had a substantial impact on defining and driving standards in the security sector.
In addition to his role as industry engagement and communications manager at Optic Security Group, Dynon is also chief editor of the New Zealand Security Magazine, and his involvement in the sector has extended to a wide range of voluntary roles.
According to the OSPAs organisers, Dynon galvanises academia, central and local government, and industry.
“Judges felt Nicholas had been the catalyst for major positive change within the industry, had outstanding leadership, and had made a significant contribution to the industry over many years.”
“It is incredibly humbling to receive this award,” Dynon said. “I’ve been extremely fortunate to have been able to work with so many outstanding security professionals, and I’m honoured to be a part of the first-ever Aotearoa New Zealand OSPAs.”
According to Mark Lloyd, Optic Security Group celebrated OSPAs finalists Tracey Gattsche (Outstanding Female Security Professional), Soul Lauvi-Johnson (Outstanding Young Security Professional), and Lee Ashton (Outstanding Security Consultant).
“Optic is also delighted that Gallagher’s My Vaccine Pass was named the winner in that category, with judges stating that the product was a game-changer for the government’s nationwide response to managing COVID-19,” Lloyd said.
