ADT Reports Q4 Growth In Recurring Revenue.

ADT reports Q4 growth – ADT has reported Q4 earnings, with total revenue of $US1.2 billion with recurring revenue increasing 4 per cent to $353 million.

ADT also increased consumer and small business revenue to $1.2 billion, a 5 per cent increase, while adjusted EBITDA was $627 million, up 8 per cent. The performance increases are significant as ADT refocuses on its core security and automation businesses.

“2023 was a pivotal year for ADT, and we delivered solid performance, invested for the future, reshaped our portfolio and meaningfully improved our capital structure,” ADT President and CEO Jim DeVries said.

“With the divestiture of our commercial business and the decision to exit residential solar we have simplified our business model and focused on our consumer-oriented core security and smart home business. Our remaining business serves a large and growing market, and we are the proven industry leader with durable customer relationships that generate substantial.”

According to DeVries, ADT’s $2.1 billion debt reduction during 2023, recent announcement of a 57 per cent increase in its dividend and a $350 million share repurchase program authorization, were highlights. Q4 also saw a strategic customer portfolio acquisition of 57,000 customers for under $90 million.

DeVries said development of the company’s ADT+ consumer app was continuing and would be at the centre of a new ecosystem. The ADT+ platform will build on the partnership between ADT and Google Nest in the CCTV and video analytics markets. The improved camera take rates contributed to approximately $1400.00 of install revenue per new customer during 2023.

“ADT delivered solid results at our core, invested for the future, reshaped our portfolio, and meaningfully improved our capital structure,” DeVries said. “We’ve got good momentum in the business, great catalysts for growth, and we’re looking forward to a strong 2024.”

MCG Installing AI Security Scanners

MCG Installing AI Security Scanners To Enhance Safety.

MCG Installing AI Security Scanners – Bringing one of the world’s largest stadiums in line with international security standards, the MCG will install Evolv AI security scanners at entry points to improve safety and traffic flow.

Evolv Express security gates, which use sensors, cameras and AI software to conduct a full body weapons search, will analyse data at a rate of 3500 people per hour, per entry lane.

According to the manufacturer, Evolv Technology, Evolv Express is proven to operate up to 10x times faster than traditional metal detectors with its dual-lane, free-flow entrances and fusion of new sensor technology and artificial intelligence.

The system is built to spot weapons while ignoring most harmless personal items as visitors walk through at a natural pace. Families and groups of people can now walk in together without as long of lines. It’s a more welcoming experience and helps them make their way to the concessions or seats quicker.

AI differentiates personal items from threats. Unlike traditional metal detectors, Evolv Express uses advanced sensor technology and artificial intelligence to screen guests while they walk through at a natural pace — without always having to stop and hand over their belongings.

The system alerts operators to the potential presence of weapons while ignoring most harmless personal items like cell phones, keys, and coins. When a potential threat is detected by the system, real-time image aided alarms can show guards where the threat is located on a person or in his or her bag. This reduces the amount of physical contact required and helps guards to act quickly and efficiently.

Evolv Insights, the accompanying web-based and mobile-enabled analytics application, allows Evolv Express to account for its own performance and supports post-event analysis and future operational planning. Managers can view visitor arrival curves and alarm rates by entrance, time, and date to understand where and when the flow of people—and threat objects—peak. Staff entrances accordingly for a proactive approach to security and operations.

It’s also possible for the system to be integrated with security technologies across a venue. Evolv Express’ Open API and easy-to-configure integrations with security technologies like VMS (video management systems) and Mass Notification Systems are built into Evolv Express, allowing critical notifications and alert images to be communicated to the extended security ecosystem throughout a venue.

Teams at the security operations centre and other locations can swiftly receive unverified and verified threats, requests for assistance, and location information from Express, initiating security protocols and procedures when a weapon is identified at the system to better protect your guests and employees.

Simplicity First For Watters Electrical

Simplicity First For Watters Electrical Thanks To Gallagher SMB.

Simplicity First For Watters Electrical – Watters Electrical is the largest and longest-standing electrical contracting company in Regional Victoria and Southern New South Wales and the team says simplicity comes first when it comes to its security solutions.

According to Watters Electrical, security technician and lead technician for Gallagher solutions, Peter Dunbar, from installation through to deployment, SMB makes security simple.

“The fact the SMB panel comes pre-assembled, ready to bolt to the wall makes it easy and simple to install,” Dunbar says. “Web-based commissions are simple and straightforward and are great for testing and fault finding, you are not stuck back at the panel on a laptop, you can be standing at the door that you commissioned/testing using your phone. Client testing is made easier too, with the well-designed app.”

Both Dunbar and Watters Electrical communication, security and data specialist, Cameron Shields, agree that SMB stands out among its competitors, as an enterprise level solution.

“The SMB panel is built off the tried and tested Gallagher hardware, so we are providing our customers with an enterprise level product that is scaled to their needs, which makes our offer stand out among our competitors,” Shields says.

“SMB offers end users scalability, flexibility, multi-site management, and automatic software updates, with the power to perform maintenance remotely, saving businesses time and money.”

Simplicity First For Watters Electrical

According to Dunbar, SMB is a cost-effective solution that sells well to small and medium businesses.

As an app-based security solution, SMB offers ease of use, improved efficiency, remote access, lock downs and upgrades, easy installation, and round-the-clock support. Via the app, operators can access their system anytime, anywhere from their smartphone, giving complete site control from home, the office, or on the road.

“Previously if they wanted Bluetooth access control, we would have to use more expensive options that were not as effective or flexible as SMB,” he explains.

“Now the user has control of their system and adding new users is simple, saving the client from having to pay us to make changes. The continuous improvement and updates to the system with new features means the system never gets old or outdated.”

Meanwhile Shields explains that in an evolving security landscape, SMB offers end users a scalable approach to security – he says that from one site to multi-site operations, SMB offers the flexibility to meet the shifting demands of the industry and business growth.

“The flexibility of the system and the support from Gallagher are what make SMB great,” says Shields. “If you come up with a feature idea that could improve the SMB system, Gallagher listen and take on the feedback and implement changes if there is demand for the feature,” he says.

Simplicity First For Watters Electrical – Strategically located in the 3 major rural cities of Albury, Shepparton and Wangaratta, Watters Electrical’s geographical influence ranges over hundreds of kilometres, providing electrical services across all aspects of the electrical industry.

An authorised Gallagher Security SMB Partner such as Watters can provide a free site visit to identify the needs of a business and prepare a quote consisting of hardware, installation fee, and monthly subscription based on chosen services.

AXIS Radar Data Visualizer

AXIS Radar Data Visualizer Combines Radar And Imagery.

AXIS Radar Data Visualizer – Axis Communications has announced a powerful analytic application that combines 180-degree radar detection and 180-degree panoramic multi-sensor AXIS P3827-PVE camera for improved situational awareness with minimum false alarms.

Radar Data Visualizer is designed for monitoring large open areas and can accurately detect people at ranges of up to 60 metres and vehicles at up to 85 metres. At these ranges the system is capable of visualizing 180-degree detection in all weather and lighting conditions.

The system collects and processes radar data and presents the data as visual overlays in the camera feed for viewing by an operator. This data can also be used to trigger events. For instance, it’s possible to activate strobe lights, trigger alarms, or start camera recordings whenever an object crosses a predefined virtual line in the camera view.

Radar technology offers cost-effective operations and accurate detection 24/7. And because it’s not impacted by things like moving shadows, beams of light, small animals, or insects, it keeps false alarms to a minimum.

With intelligent object detection, the system can detect and classify people and vehicles. And area and line-crossing detection lets you trigger an event whenever an object moves within a defined area or crosses predefined virtual line in a defined direction. Additionally, it’s possible to display the speed of passing vehicles in the overlay.

You can learn more about Axis solutions from local distributors, learn more about the Radar Data Visualiser here or read more SEN news here.

AXIS Radar Data Visualizer Features:

  • Improved scene awareness with reliable detection 24/7
  • Detect people up to 60 meters
  • Detect vehicles up to 85 meters
  • 180-degree coverage with no blind spots
  • Trigger events based on radar data.

Amazon Discovers The Touchscreen Hub, Heralds End Of App Reliance.

Amazon Discovers The Touchscreen Hub – It’s not often that electronics companies and digital companies meet in the middle but it seems they may have after Amazon (finally) released a touchscreen security and home automation hub called Echo Hub that sits at the heart of a very familiar looking ecosystem.

Amazon’s new Echo Hub is designed to sit at the middle of an Alexa-powered home’s smart device constellation – speakers, sensors, lights, cameras and whatever other Alexa-compatible devices you want to add.

As well as RJ-45 connectivity, it has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and Zigbee radios and can connect to Thread, Sidewalk and Matter devices without needing phone connection for commissioning.

Echo Hub has the form factor of a small tablet – it’s a little larger and slimmer than most security keypad hubs at 8 inches, with lashings of functionality pushed onto the screen, including CCTV, security, automation, weather, music, comms and more.

It’s not as though Amazon did not have an Echo interface before now – the Echo Show – but this new Echo Hub is different, given it’s designed to allow a group of residents to manage a local system without using their smart device or a connected tablet. Show was all about displaying often annoying recommended content, while Echo Hub is about system management.

In terms of the keypad layout, rooms are listed on the left and you tap them on screen to see the devices each room contains. Devices are arranged in groups along the bottom so they can be turned on or off together – this is ideal for automation functions like lights.

Amazon Discovers The Touchscreen Hub

Better for users, the home screen can be customised to display the functionalities that get used most often – lights, security, CCTV, intercom, music, weather, etc. Echo Hub also plays music and movies and you can control it with Alexa voice commands.

Meanwhile, Echo Hub also allows users to control routines, schedules and rules – for example, you can create a routine in your Alexa app that locks the doors, arms the security system, and turns off the lights when you say, “Alexa, I’m leaving”.

It’s taken a long time for Amazon to discover the universal appeal of a clever keypad anyone in a home can drive without fussing around getting their face recognised by dad’s phone. App control is great when you are out of the house but there are times when just pressing a button is far easier.

Perhaps the most interesting aspect of Echo Hub from the point of view of security installers is that it suggests modernised traditional system layouts still have strong appeal and digital providers are finally recognising this.
