Toshiba Releases Ip Cctv Cameras For Us599

0

Delivering an impressive feature-set that includes PoE 802.3af Power over Ethernet, 2-way audio, an SD card slot, and built-in motion detection, the WB02-KIT3-8 Camera Kit is the new flagship of Toshiba’s network camera line- up.

With an MSRP of $US599. the kit includes the IK-WB02A camera, along with a 1/3-inch 3.0-8.0mm Al lens, a 24VAC 20VA plug-in transformer, and a 6- inch universal camera mount for indoor mounting applications.

One of the few network cameras available with PoE, the WB02-KIT3-8 requires only a single CAT 5 or above cable to deliver both communications and power, resulting in a major reduction in installation costs as it eliminates the need to install electrical wiring or power outlets. Besides cost efficiencies, PoE can assure continuous surveillance in a power outage by carrying battery backed up uninterrupted power via the LAN.

Another exciting benefit of the WB02-KIT3-8 is a built-in SD Card slot that makes the camera an all-in-one recording solution. The SD card records on-motion activity at the camera. After an incident, the user simply takes out the SD Card and plays it back on a computer to view captured video at one frame per second.

Capable of interfacing with both new and existing CCTV systems, the versatile IK-WB02A uses network video out to connect to recorders through RJ 45 connections, plus it is compatible with standard CCTV monitors and recorders thanks to its analog BNC output.

Other key features include an 50dB signal-to-noise ratio for optimum performance with DVRs; up to 30FPS at 320×240; 480TV line resolution; 1/3-inch CCD imaging sensor; low light performance down to 0.2 lux@F1.0 with day/night imaging; and a wide dynamic range of 2,500K to 10,000K.

The new cordless phone operates on 2.4GHz and makes use of digital frequency hopping spread spectrum technology.

According to Panasonic, it will work with both new and existing ADT alarm systems. It also features caller ID, ITAD, and can be expanded to include three accessory handsets.

Panasonic expects to sell the new cordless system to a potential market of 6 million ADT alarm subscribers in the U.S. alone.

According to Forbes.com, the new Panasonic cordless phone offering is expected to encourage new security sales because it eliminates the need for a wall panel.

The new cordless phone will be sold exclusively through retail outlets and it’s though to be the first cordless in-home alarm connection.

Gsm, Gprs Growing In Europe, Middle East

At INTERSEC 2005, Multicom Security AB presented Monitored Alarm Transmission Systems using leased line and wireless (GSM/GPRS) transmission paths.

The system is designed for transmission of intruder -, fire -, technical alarms etc., which require reliable performance and high security.

“Together with our partners we can offer a complete installation with the dial up system and the Alarm Receiving System in the Arabic language.” claims Börje Enblom, Product Manager at Multicom Security.

Multicom Security received their latest order from the UAE for supervised alarm communication from the Emirate of Sharjah. This means that Multicom Security has supplied equipment to two out of the seven emirates of the UAE.

The approximately 1000 end users connected there are mainly banks, jewellery shops and money exchange offices. Local regulations make it mandatory for these kinds of outlets to have supervised alarm transmission of the kind Multicom supplies.

The owner of the alarm network, the national police, has very stringent demands on the level of security and its function as well as on the level of false alarms.

Multicom Security AB carried out the first installation in the UAE in 1996, and the performance over the last eight years has been very good, a fact that has made this most recent order possible.

“Our customers in the UAE have extremely high demands in functionality and security for supervised alarm transmissions. To be entrusted with the delivery of a second system, we see as a proof of the fact that our product meets the highest international standards” says Bo Blåeldh, Vice President and Marketing Director of Multicom Security.

Multicom operates two telecommunication networks within two different market segments in Sweden with more than 50,000 customers, namely monitored alarm transmission, in which Multicom is the sole provider of the service in Sweden, and mobile data communication.

Gigapixel Dream Team Gets To Work

0

Success could allow renditions of scenes with phenomenal detail – the sort of detail that would offer great power to security managers and their monitoring teams in high risk sites.

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office” />

The camera and display system being sought by artists and scientists involved in the Big Picture Summit would have 16 times greater data display capability than a display at Sandia National Laboratories, which scientists use to visualize highly complex supercomputer-generated physics simulations.

The first Big Picture Summit, Dec. 8 and 9, was organized by artist-photographer Clifford Ross and co-hosted by Sandia National Laboratories and the Interactive Telecommunications Program at NYU.

Ross says his goal in bringing together top imaging experts from leading scientific institutions is to bring closer to reality his desire to create a “you are there” photographic experience

“In the early 15th century, the impulse to render flesh more realistically drove the artist Jan van Eyck to invent oil paint,” says Ross. “The same sort of impulse is driving me, except that I’m trying to capture a mountain. Pixels are simply 21st century oil paint.”

The scientists have different but complementary goals. Computational scientists at Sandia, a National Nuclear Security Administration lab, believe a display system of the magnitude proposed by Ross will enhance the ability of its scientists to visualize and gain insight from massively complex data sets that can be understood only through human intuition, ranging from supercomputer-generated physics simulations to high-resolution satellite imagery.

“We have a lot in common with an artist like Clifford Ross and his quest to make extremely detailed images that evoke a powerful emotional response,” says Carl Diegert, Sandia computational scientist.

The project could have major implications for all industries that rely on precise imaging, including environmental science, space exploration, telecommunications, and homeland security, says Diegert.

“We want to understand from an intuitive standpoint what it is that enables viewers to gain insight — for example, a visual metaphor that makes a human viewer comfortable and thus better able to interact with an image. Computer science alone is not likely to invent a means for scientists to intuitively comprehend highly complex problems.”

Ross’ newly patented R1 camera system, which broke through the gigapixel barrier, has achieved some of the highest resolution single-shot images ever created. Efforts by other photographers have digitally melded many smaller images taken over a period of time into single sweeping, gigapixel-sized landscape images.)

The quality of the first landscape images created with the R1 convinced many of the scientists involved in the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags” />Summit to join in the effort, says Diegert.

The 15 professionals invited by Ross to participate in the Summit include renowned artists, scientists and engineers from government agencies, and digital imagery experts from the entertainment and film industries.

The project has two parts. The first is to design and build a new camera, expanding on concepts embodied in the R1, that can capture a gigapixel of digital information at a speed of 1/15th of a second or faster.

The second part is to create the display system which will have 16 times greater data display capabilities than one currently in use at Sandia, among the world’s most advanced. The display would provide an overall view of images at a very large scale while allowing viewers to perceive extremely fine detail.

The Summit is expected to result in a concrete agenda and working group, which would then be funded by interested individuals, foundations, corporations, and government agencies with an interest in the practical implications of Ross’ quest.

“This extraordinary convergence of talent is a promising start,” said renowned digital innovator Red Burns, creator and chair of the Interactive Telecommunications Program at the TischSchool of the Arts.

“The group is skilled in virtually all the necessary elements of hardware and software design for a high resolution imaging project of great ambition. Individually, the participants are some of the keenest minds in the field. Collectively, with an unyielding artist in our midst and the right support, there is a chance to create a real breakthrough.”

Ifs Dishes Up Ethernav D7600 Ethernet Switches

0

A feature of the EtherNav line is the inclusion a Gigabit electrical or optical port in some models. As more and more devices are being integrated on to these Ethernet networks, bandwidth can become an issue and by utilizing a Gigabit Ethernet (1 Gbps) provides a significant increase in bandwidth over older Fast Ethernet.

<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = “urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office” />

This allows devices utilizing EtherNav switches to be easily integrated into larger networks. IFS is one of the first manufacturers to utilize a Gigabit Ethernet transmission capability in its initial managed switch product line introduction. The EtherNav Series also features Rapid Spanning Tree Protocol (IEE 802.1w) for quick data recovery.

The EtherNav Managed Ethernet Switch has several mechanisms to monitor, configure, and manage the VLAN it is tasked to manage. A console interface using a standard RS-232 interface allows for local network control from a standard PC. Alternatively, a web-based graphical user interface or GUI will allow for remote configuration control from anywhere on an Ethernet based network.

For Higher Level System Management, the EtherNav line supports SNMP or Simple Network Management Protocol Version 2C and is RFC1213 compliant. The benefit of SNMP is that it allows for a standards based network element management system to be utilized for status monitoring and management of their network.

The EtherNav Managed Ethernet Switch was designed from the ground up to be mechanically and environmentally hardened for use in unconditioned environments. It has passed the rigorous tests and meets the CALTRANS and NEMA test standards. Many of the current competitive models available are not designed for more demanding outdoor and factory installations.

The IFS EtherNav Series can be configured with a redundant power supply for greater reliability and is one of the only managed switch available with that feature.

The IFS EtherNav D7600 Series is designed for use in today’s modern Intelligent Transportation Systems and Industrial Control applications where monitoring and control are taking place in centralized locations.” Said David Sinise, ITS Sales Manager.

“These applications are extremely sensitive to variable delays and network congestion, which are unavoidable on a shared Ethernet network. By configuring the devices in a VLAN, sufficient bandwidth can be allocated for each, thereby ensuring effective management of the network devices,” continued Sinise.

All models of the EtherNav Series are FCC and CE compliant and have an operating temperature range of between – 40 degrees C to + 74 degrees C. And like all IFS products, they are backed by an exclusive Comprehensive Lifetime Product Warranty.

A managed Ethernet switch is a device that segments Ethernet network traffic to enhance performance and for better bandwidth allocation. It has become an essential piece of equipment when local area networks (LAN) are handling multiple devices such as cameras and DVRs.

A managed switch allows “virtual local area networks” or (VLANS) to be created that allows networks to be created using software rather than hardware.
