DTI Group has received an order from Alstom UK & Ireland for the supply, and installation of advanced CCTV surveillance systems for the Northern Line fleet built and maintained by Alstom on behalf of Transport for London on the London Underground.

The order involves the supply, and installation of 212 future-proofed and innovative surveillance systems for the entire Northern Line fleet of vehicles, coupled with secure infrastructure facilities providing system health and video data across multiple depots.

With an expected project value of £886,000 (A$ 1.5 million), deliveries for the systems are expected to commence late in the first half of the 2016–17 financial year and completed before the end of the financial year. The systems will include the very latest on-board surveillance technology with the deployment of DTI’s market-leading, feature-rich MDR-6 recording unit. Each train will also be equipped with DTI's high-resolution colour cameras.

The vehicles can be monitored via the DTI comprehensive back-end CCTV management system. This proven system is already in use within other parts of the London transport network allowing video evidence to be recovered from the vehicles through an on-line automated CCTV 'booking' system enabling transparent management of equipment, video retrieval and video storage. However, this latest project is the first for DTI on the London Underground.

Crucially, the DTI footprint will provide Alstom with a number of technology upgrade paths throughout the remaining life of the vehicles retaining leading-edge technology on one of the busiest services in the London Underground.

“This win further builds on DTI's reputation in Europe and around the world for providing advanced surveillance and information technology solutions and services in the mass transit market,” said DTI's managing director, Richard Johnson. ♦
