PG9984P Wireless PowerG Dual Technology Sensor From BGW Technologies.
PG9984P Wireless PowerG Dual Technology Sensor – PG9984P Wireless PowerG dual technology sensor is an intrusion detector designed to reduce false alarms through advanced detection technologies.
SEN is biased towards this sensor – we have one at home as part of a Qolsys IQ 4 solution and it’s been rock solid with no false alarms in 2 years, despite dealing with west-facing windows.
The PG9984P integrates PIR (passive infrared) and K-band microwave sensors, improving detection accuracy by requiring both sensors to detect movement simultaneously before triggering an alarm.
Of particular interest to installers supporting SME and small commercial and small industrial applications, PowerG devices deliver monster ranges of up to 2000 metres via secure encrypted 2-way wireless links.
This PG9984P sensor covers a medium-sized detection area of up to 15m through a 90-degree detection angle, making it suitable for both commercial and residential installations.
To reduce false alarms further, the detector features pet immunity capable of distinguishing animals weighing up to 18kg. It hasn’t false alarmed in the presence of our 17kg groodle in those 2 years, either, so we can confirm the pet immunity.
Installation is simplified by a built-in visible LED indicator that helps installers identify optimal locations, eliminating unnecessary trips back to the keypad. Configuration and settings adjustments are conducted entirely through the system keypad, removing the need for physical switches or opening the device after installation.
The PG9984P utilizes advanced optical technologies, including elliptical parabolic mirror optics and digital temperature compensation, ensuring reliable intruder detection even in environments with temperatures close to human body temperature. Additionally, its obsidian black mirror technology filters out white light interference, enhancing infrared detection sensitivity.
The detector’s robust communication is enabled by that PowerG wireless technology we mentioned earlier. With FHSS, adaptive transmission power for battery longevity, it offers reliable communication ranges up to 2km line-of-sight. Bolstering comms further is TDMA synchronized technology, minimizing message collisions, and 128-bit AES encryption to defend against digital attacks against system comms.
It’s a compact sensor with dimensions of 115 x 60 x 48mm and a weight of only 90g. Power comes from a 3V CR123A lithium battery and the operating temperature -10C to 55C.
