RCI YD30S Locks From Dormakaba Perfect For Framed Sliding Glass Doors.
RCI YD30S Locks From Dormakaba Perfect – Framed sliding glass doors are architecturally popular, but they are hard to secure with electromagnetic locks which can be visually intrusive, higher current draw and less tolerant of door movement.
The RCI YD30S addresses these issues in the form of a slim, side-load motor-driven lock that delivers high holding force without the bulk typically associated with electromagnetic locking.
On sliding framed glass doors, alignment is rarely perfect over time. Frames move, doors drop and repeated impacts from traffic introduce side load that can defeat conventional locking hardware. The YD30S is engineered to manage loose tolerances. Its motor-driven bolt will release on request even with up to 6000 newtons of sideload applied, and the pivoting bolt design actively pulls a misaligned door back into position, correcting up to 8 mm of misalignment. This makes it particularly suited to sliding glass applications where maintaining precise alignment is difficult.

The lock operates on low voltage and draws minimal current, with standby consumption as low as 40mA at 12V DC. This reduces strain on power supplies, especially on multi-door sites where cumulative current draw matters. Despite its low-power profile, the YD30S provides a static holding force exceeding 10,000 newtons via a 10 mm stainless-steel bolt pin, delivering mechanical security rather than relying on magnetic force alone.
Installation flexibility is another factor driving its adoption on glass doors. The YD30S can be morticed into the side or top of a frame, or surface mounted using purpose-designed housings and dress plates that bond directly to glass. It supports fail-safe and fail-secure modes, integrates with standard access control systems, and provides door and bolt position monitoring back to the controller for status reporting and safety logic.
Tested to over a million cycles and certified to EN 14846, the YD30S is designed for high-traffic commercial environments where appearance, reliability and controlled release under load are all critical. For projects involving framed sliding glass doors, it offers a cleaner and more tolerant alternative to traditional mag locks while meeting fire, durability, and compliance requirements.
