Salto Releases New XS4 Face Recognition Access Reader.

Salto Releases New XS4 Face – Salto has released XS4 Face, a face recognition access control system designed to provide hands-free entry to Salto access points without physical keys or cards.

XS4 Face is designed to integrate directly with existing Salto electronic locks and building infrastructure and operates within the Salto Space SVN data-on-card access platform. The new reader grants access in under 1 second while operating within a privacy-centric, on-premise architecture.

XS4 Face is supplied as a single solution in which the facial recognition algorithm, hardware, software and support are all delivered by Salto. Installation is automated at both hardware and software levels, removing the need for third-party applications or additional integration layers.

Meanwhile, commissioning and configuration are simplified to reduce deployment time and remove common installation complexity. The system is intended for organisations requiring controlled access with minimal physical touchpoints and consistent credential management across sites.

User onboarding is managed through a mobile self-enrolment process. Users register remotely from any device through a secure web-based enrolment service without downloading an app or attending a central registration point. This allows decentralised credential creation and supports remote administration of access permissions.

Privacy controls are built into the core operating process. XS4 Face does not store user images. When a user approaches the reader, an image is captured and converted into a biometric template for comparison against enrolled users. Both the access request image and the generated biometric template are deleted within 0.3 seconds.

Liveness detection operates simultaneously with recognition to prevent spoofing attempts using photographs, videos or masks, and the system has undergone independent penetration testing against recognised application security risk frameworks.

XS4 Face supports multiple credential types within the same access environment. Alongside facial recognition, organisations can deploy mobile or digital keys, RFID keycards, fobs and PIN codes.
