SEN Weekly Wrap 007 – What’s been going on in the security industry this week? Plenty – readers should note that there’s less than 2 months until SecTech Roadshow Perth – ISC West opens in Las Vegas on the April 9-12 and there’s always a flood of new product around this time of year.

News off the cuff – global integrator Convergint is partnering with Verkada on an integrated system of cameras, air quality sensors (CO2, mould, etc), and vape detectors with configurable threshold notifications and tracking – we knew they had buddied up but the cloud possibilities are expanding.

Red Badge Group announced an unconditional sale agreement has been executed for the acquisition of ELE Security (previously Bespoke Security and RISQ NZ) providers of security guarding and risk management training across New Zealand. All aspects of the ELE Security guarding operation will seamlessly transition to Red Badge Group.

In addition to integrating ELE Security’s services, Red Badge Group has established RISQ Australasia as a separate entity. RISQ will be independently operated and managed by general manager, Bruce Couper.

Australia’s digital ID bill has hit a snag with clarifications and changes sought by the federal opposition and the greens party seeking to enhance privacy and security.

HID found sustainability is growing as a factor in 74 per cent of decisions, biometrics is taking off with 39 per cent of respondents saying they use it and 30 per cent planning to sue it, ID management is heading into the cloud, and AI has launched, with 35 per cent of respondents saying they were planning on implementing an AI application in the next few years.

Suprema has announced the latest version of under-display ultrasonic fingerprint recognition algorithm, BioSign, to the Samsung Galaxy S24 series supported by the Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor Gen 2. BioSign 6.0 provides an improvement in accuracy and a faster response time thanks to an optimized AI-based fingerprint analysis algorithm that efficiently recognizes data from the Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor Gen-2.

SALTO has launched the AAA-rated DBolt Touch smart deadbolt, a retrofit smart locking solution for upgrading mechanical deadbolt locks in the multi-family residential market. It features SVN, BLUEnet, and JustIN Mobile – pretty neat from SALTO.

DBolt enables PIN-based and supports smart RFID key cards. The DBolt Touch enables mobile access via SALTO’s Digital Key solution – JustIN Mobile. SALTO DBolt Touch comes in 2 versions: the DBolt Touch and the DBolt Touch-Interconnected (IC).

Meanwhile, ProdataKey has introduced PDK.io 2.0, a software solution that expands features, functionality, and scalability to support enterprise installations managed across multiple buildings and sites. With version 2.0, doors connected to disparate PDK Cloud Nodes can be managed as a single customer system, and credential holders can reside in a single database and be distributed across one or many locations. PDK.io 2.0 features the same simplicity and ease of use which has made ProdataKey’s mobile-first access control solution a favorite of dealers, technicians, and end-user customers.

Axis has added always-on live streaming via built-in LTE/4G to its new AXIS W120 body worn camera. As well as built-in LTE/4G, there’s Wi-Fi and Bluetooth for direct streaming via AXIS Body Worn Live. Location tracking and on-demand streaming mean wearers know someone can always see where they are keep an eye on unfolding events you can read more about the W120 here.

Tenders – Queensland Parliamentary Service needs security and CCTV for its Miller Electorate Office – there’s more information on that here. Rio Tinto’s Brockman Syncline 1 greenfield mine project in the Pilbara, which incorporates plant and residential structures, needs security and CCTV here, while over in NZ Murray’s Bay School needs fire and security alarms here.

Elsewhere in today’s EDM, Woollahra Council needs CCTV maintenance and Port of Newcastle might need security for ships alongside – the wording was a little unclear – decide for yourselves on that one. Council of Port Phillip needs CCTV and access control expansion and maintenance. There’s also a security control room for sale in Sydney. It’s a good size with an annual turnover of $A7 million – you can learn more here.
