Stax Installing $4.5 Million Ava Cloud CCTV For Charles Sturt University

Stax Security has signed a $A4.5m contract with Charles Sturt University for the supply and installation of over 1600 Ava Security cloud-native cameras.

To be delivered in March with 10-year licenses, the initial 1600 camera system is expected to expand by a further 1000 cameras in the future – all will be hosted in the Ava Aware cloud VMS platform.

“The security and scalability of the Ava Security’s cloud is a great fit for the university’s growth trajectory and cloud first policy,” said Kerry Aldridge from Bathurst-based security integrator, Stax Security.

“Ava’s AI & ML audio and video analytics add layers of proactive, actionable intelligence on every single camera, letting stakeholders know what they need to be looking at in real time,” said Aldridge.

“There are just so many benefits, including a game changing ability to manage the entire systems bandwidth requirements in line with the Universities peak network operations.”

According to Ava, its cloud CCTV solutions deliver significant savings in power, network performance, network management, and system maintenance, heavily reducing the carbon footprint while enhancing cyber security and accessibility.

Following the upgrade, the university will no longer need to maintain racks of high-end servers, perform server or client software deployments, software upgrades, maintain UPS systems, and provide air-conditioned rack space.

According to CSU, the transition to Ava Security’s cloud-native ecosystem will save the Charles Sturt University around $6m over the life of the project, and fits CSU’s increased focus on technology, safety, and security.

“This recent adoption by CSU directly correlates with Ava Security’s global growth and the great migration to cloud,” said Tom Kinkade of Ava Security’s sole ANZ distributor, Sektor.

“We are delighted to partner with Stax Security and support the Stax team as it transitions CSU’s video systems to the cloud.”
