Suprema Releases BioStation 2a – Suprema has launched BioStation 2a, the world’s first deep learning-based fingerprint recognition solution for high security access control applications.
With BioStation 2a, Suprema said it had pioneered fingerprint recognition technology based on deep learning for the first time in the world.
“The cutting-edge AI algorithm based on deep learning is embedded in BioStation 2a,” said Suprema CEO, Hanchul Kim.
“This innovation was achieved through Suprema’s expertise in creating a lightweight AI engine optimized for edge device to create a high-performance edge device with an AI processor, NPU (Neural Processing Unit), optimized for deep learning, and able to deliver accurate and fast fingerprint recognition.”
Using deep learning BioStation 2a’s ability to extract templates from low-quality fingerprints, such as those that are noisy or distorted, is improved by 30 per cent. Additionally, BioStation 2a has improved fingerprint recognition speed thanks to its 1.5GHz quad CPU, allowing it to support up to 50,000 users in 1:1 matching and 100,000 users in 1:N matching.

BioStation 2a offers a range of credential options including fingerprint, RFID, and mobile access (BLE/NFC), enhancing user experience and security at the same time. With an extended USB host, this new reader helps users easily add new features, while its IP65 rating and operating temperature range from -20 to 60C guarantee durability rugged conditions.
