Video Surveillance as a Service

With VSaaS, the initial
system cost is reduced by removing the need for local management and storage,
and replacing it with a subscription-based service. And users are not required
to be IT experts as the system’s management is performed remotely.

VSaaS is a among
a number of key video surveillance trends expected in the year ahead. Others
include storage on the camera will be a hot topic in 2010, a price drop in network
cameras as a result of increasing competition, lower cost imports, and
manufacturer desire to penetrate price sensitive markets.

Something else to
keep an eye out for is searchable analytics which IMS says will be the next
growth area for Video Content Analysis (VCA). Also gaining traction will be HD
resolution, H.264 usage, open standards and more open Video Management Software
(VMS).
