JupiterResearch says there will be 20.4 million VoIP subscribers by 2010 compared to the 1.4 million households using VoIP by the end of 2004. The study, entitled “U. S. Broadband Telephony Forecast 2005 to 2010,” predicts the big push will come from cable television companies like Comcast and Time Warner as opposed to independent providers like Vonage. VoIP is being watched by the alarm industry, as it potentially can interfere with the communication between alarm panels and central stations.
