Rouse Hill Town Centre Installs FAAC Automatic Bollards To Protect Market Day Crowds.
Rouse Hill Town Centre Installs FAAC Automatic Bollards – Rouse Hill Town Centre holds regular market days when its main street is converted into a dense pedestrian environment, with families, traders and visitors occupying what is normally a vehicle thoroughfare. This street use created an operational security risk that need permanent resolution.
The security imperative for market days was clear. Vehicle access needed to be completely and reliably restricted during events, without introducing temporary barriers, manual handling, or visual clutter, and without disrupting normal traffic flow outside market hours. The solution also had to integrate cleanly into a busy retail streetscape and withstand frequent outdoor use.
Rouse Hill Town Centre administrators worked with FAAC Technologies to address the risk using automated perimeter control rather than procedural controls. Manual barriers and staff-intensive closures were ruled out early, as they introduced inconsistency, labour overhead and operational risk during repeated deployments. Instead, the centre adopted a fixed but discreet automation approach that allowed Main Street to transition quickly between open and pedestrian-only modes.
The solution was based on FAAC J275HA automatic bollards, selected for their ability to provide repeatable, full vehicle restriction while remaining visually unobtrusive. There are now 8 bollards were installed in 2 groups of 4 at each end of Main Street, between Market Lane and Civic Way. When raised, the bollards form a continuous physical barrier capable of stopping vehicle access. When lowered, the bollards sit flush with the pavement, preserving the look and function of the street.
According to asset manager, Sophie Wehrmann, of GPT Property, installation of the bollards; which included civil works, hydraulic and electrical integration, and full commissioning; were all completed with minimal disruption to centre operations.
“Operationally, the automated system has simplified market day management,” Wehrmann said. “Street closures can now be executed quickly and consistently, without reliance on temporary infrastructure or additional staffing.
“The automatic bollards have transformed our market day operations, allowing us to secure the street quickly while preserving the look and feel of Rouse Hill Town Centre.”
