WA Police Seeks Industry Input On Acoustic Cameras And AI Systems.
WA Police Seeks Industry Input On Acoustic Cameras – WAPOL is seeking industry input on acoustic cameras and AI technologies for the detection events to support operational policing capabilities.
The RFI seeks information from suppliers capable of providing contemporary acoustic camera solutions and related systems that may assist WA Police in delivering services across the Perth metropolitan region.
According to the request documentation, WAPOL is looking to understand the current capability of the market to supply acoustic camera technologies and associated platforms. In addition to core acoustic camera functionality, the WAPOL is also seeking information on related technologies, delivery models and supporting systems that could enhance such deployments.
Acoustic camera systems typically combine microphone arrays with video or imaging sensors to detect, locate and visualise sound sources. In law enforcement applications these technologies are used for applications such as gunshot detection, locating sources of noise or disturbance, detecting modified vehicles by excessive noise, and supporting investigations by synchronising audio detection with video data and analytical tools.
Western Australia Police Force is the principal law enforcement agency for the state of Western Australia, responsible for policing a jurisdiction that covers more than 2.5 million square kilometres with 9000 staff and 150 police stations. WAPOL provides community policing, criminal investigation, emergency response and public safety services across metropolitan, regional and remote areas, with increasing use of technology to support operational effectiveness and situational awareness.
This WA Police seeks industry input on acoustic cameras tender closes at 2:30pm Perth time on April 17 – you can learn more here or read more SEN news here.
