Getting More from Existing Camera Set-Ups with Avigilon AI Appliance 2X from BGW Technologies.

Avigilon AI Appliance 2X from BGW Technologies – According to BGW Technologies’ Avigilon product manager, Peter Ha, while new and replacement solutions are often the preferred choice for many integrators, opportunity isn’t always in rolling out brand-new cameras, it can be in helping users get more value from what’s already installed.

“That’s exactly where the Avigilon AI Appliance 2X, available through BGW Technologies, fits in,” Ha says. “It adds advanced analytics and generative AI to existing systems, without the need for the system to be replaced.”

PERMACONN

Designed to work alongside Unity Video deployments, the AI Appliance 2X brings server-side analytics to both Avigilon and third-party cameras.

“In practical terms, that means you can upgrade system capability and deliver smarter outcomes—even when you’re working with older or non-analytic devices”, Ha says.

“Avigilon’s goal with the development of the AI Appliance 2X was to help customers to bridge the gap between what they have today and what modern AI-driven security can deliver; without starting from scratch.”

“Features like appearance search, facial recognition, object detection and the ability to create highly specific alerts gives operators the tools to move beyond simple monitoring and into more proactive security”.

According to Ha, one of the more interesting additions is the on-premise generative AI capability.

“With natural language search, users can quickly find what they’re looking for—no need to dig through hours of footage,” Ha explains. “Being able to ask the system questions in plain language fundamentally changes how teams interact with video data.”

From an installation point of view, deployment is simple, it’s a straightforward, all-in-one solution that comes with the Avigilon Hardened operating system, encrypted storage and signed firmware updates. It scales, too. For larger or higher-end projects, each appliance can support up to 160 cameras, making it a serious option for medium to large sites.

“It’s these little things, that will keep maintenance manageable and help to tick the cybersecurity box,” Ha says. “We know that integrators and users alike will appreciate this.

“If you’d like more information on the Avigilon AI Appliance 2X reach out to your local branch, or stop by the BGW Technologies stand in your local SecTech city and ask the team for more information – we’re looking forward to seeing you there!”
