TP-Link Archer 8 Ultra Wi-Fi 8 Offers Higher Performance Over Longer Ranges In Challenging Environments.
TP-Link Archer 8 Ultra Wi-Fi 8 – TP-Link has opened Australian pre-orders for the Archer 8 Ultra.
Archer 8 Ultra is TP-Link’s first Wi-Fi 8 router combining Broadcom’s Wi-Fi 8 chipset with TP-Link’s Wi-Fi 8 StabilityEngine, AI-driven network management and integrated security.
Built around the upcoming IEEE 802.11bn standard, the Archer 8 Ultra is designed to maintain more consistent performance under interference and at longer ranges rather than focusing solely on peak throughput. This is significant for security applications in complex SME and residential sites.
TP-Link’s Wi-Fi 8 StabilityEngine uses UEQM, new MCS and 2 x LDPC technologies to maintain throughput in congested environments. The company claims up to 33 per cent more consistent throughput at mid-to-long range and up to 24 per cent more consistent throughput than Wi-Fi 7 under interference. NPCA is designed to maintain network responsiveness as additional devices connect.
Further StabilityEngine capabilities are planned through over-the-air updates, including DSO for higher device capacity, ELR and DRU for improved edge coverage, and Co-TDMA, Co-SR and Co-BF for environments using multiple access points.
The Archer 8 Ultra provides 19Gbps tri-band Wi-Fi 8, with 2 10Gbps auto-sensing WAN/LAN ports and 4 2.5Gbps LAN ports for wired devices. Its 18 internal antennas provide coverage of up to 334 square metres for up to 200 devices.
Multi-Floor Mode adjusts the wireless signal according to device distribution across multiple levels, while a dedicated Wi-Fi 8 RF chip provides Range Boost to improve communication with distant, low-power devices.
TP-Link’s Aireal AI Assistant is integrated into the Tether app, allowing users to ask questions about the network in plain language. Automated functions include Wi-Fi Optimiser, which selects the clearest channel, Self-Healing for common connection problems, QoS for traffic prioritisation and ECO Mode for reducing power consumption during off-peak periods.
Initial setup uses NFC pairing through the Tether app, with the app also providing network monitoring, parental controls and configuration management. Guests can connect by tapping their phone to the router without being given the network password.

Security functions include a hardware-level VPN for encrypting selected devices’ traffic, support for third-party VPN providers and separate guest and IoT networks. TP-Link HomeShield provides optional real-time protection and WPA3 authentication.
TP-Link Australia and New Zealand managing director Neville Wang said the combination of Wi-Fi 8 and the StabilityEngine was intended to improve reliability as well as performance.
“Wi-Fi 8 raises the bar for reliability, and Archer 8 Ultra takes it further,” said Wang.
