ArticlesTHERE was plenty to see at SIG 2011 and this bodes well for the big Sydney show at the end of August. Wandering around the Canberra Convention Centre it was clear the tide is coming in where new products are concerned bringing with it major updates such as new Security Commander software from DAS, a new version of Control Center software from Avigilon and plenty more besides.
Walking through the front door, the first thing I see is Geutebruck’s Omnibrid, then the company’s new nano DVR – a tiny device – the Touch workstation hardware and a nifty spider blaster which uses compressed air to shift webs and dust from the front window of the company’s Argus high speed pan tilt system.
Heading into the hall I see Australian Security Fencing’s multiple zone intelligent livewire fencing, the EDS electric fencing system which is SCEC-endorsed. Nearby Pacific Communications has a range of equipment including FLIR thermal cameras, Sarix, Pelco, DVTel V6.1, DVTel cameras, Evo cameras, the new Security Commander software everyone is talking about, as well as TelstraSecure alarm reporting. Nearby SouthWest Microwave is showing its Intrepid perimeter solution.
I see gear from ServerRacks Australia, ADT’s applications-based stand, I see shredders, ID supplies, C.R. Kennedy with Panomera front and centre as well as Dallmeier cameras and VideoNetBox. Hard by, Remguard is showing DM’s IPTV range.
Schneider’s stand is dominated by a huge rack for a UPS system, there’s Clipsal, Pelco and other gear. You can see the breadth of the Schneider business at SIG – it’s not just about Pelco as we sometimes assume. This is a big company.
ASSA ABLOY is showing the ES9000 Pre-load strike and the 3579HS strike. HID has a new card printer, the Fargo DTC4500, as well as a new range of readers including keypad and prox – very nice looking they are.
I see Fargo’s new turnstiles, Kantech access controllers, the FSH MEM2400EXTC, and a sweet new reader from Sagem on the Gallagher stand.
CSD is showing exacq video management software, ACTi cameras, while AlarmIP Australia has a range of alarm gear and accessories – it’s a big range I’ve never seen before – Euro One IP, Euro Mini, SmartCom IP TCD, sensors and more. CEM Systems is waving its flag on the Tyco stand – another product worth watching.
