There are some applications that demand relatively wide fields of view and high resolutions so as to guarantee face recognition at multiple depths of field. But there are times an installer should embrace 4K and not try to make do with 1080p.
In this application, more than 20 fixed cameras have been employed in a bid to guarantee face recognition of pedestrians climbing the stairs but a less expensive option and with far less demand on bandwidth, would have been the use of a single 4K camera with a 4-9mm focal length. Furthermore, the weight of the fixed cameras and their IP66-rated housings, combined with strong southerly winds in this coastal application, have bent the mounting pole.
The effect is artistic but low on operational capability. ♦
