Inner Range T4000 Pro Firmware Upgrade – Inner Range has a firmware upgrade that incorporates some of the most requested features for the T4000 Pro communicator, including a VPN client (OpenVPN and WireGuard) and a firewall.
According to Inner Range’s Eugene Ma Ching, getting the new features working on an existing T4000 Pro requires techs follow very easy steps.
“You log into a T4000 Pro, click on the firmware update prompt at the top of your screen, apply the firmware and you’re done,” said Ma Ching.
“Once the T4000 is back online, log in and you’ll see the new options available on the left of your screen – to add a VPN connection you select ‘Enable VPN’, drop in a valid OpenVPN or WireGuard configuration file, then click ‘save’. The VPN Client will automatically make the connection and once you see the ‘Running’ state, you’re done.”

According to Ma Ching, the firewall is easy to set up, too.
“You click ‘Add’, name your rule and apply your settings, next ensure your device has it’s IP configured as static and set that as the ‘Destination IP Address’ in the new rule and finally, click ‘Save’ and make sure the ‘Enable Firewall Rule’ flag is set and that’s it,” he explains.
“By default, the LAN and Wi-Fi interfaces are bridged but segregating the connections is a breeze. You simply unflag the connection you wish to segregate e.g., LAN1/LAN2/Wi-Fi and configure it to suit your needs.
“You can even select which specific interfaces you want having VPN access,” Ma Ching said. “The other interfaces will continue to communicate over the standard 4G/WAN connection.
“On each page, there are plenty of tips to explain each field should you need the extra detail. Whether it’s enrolled as a professionally monitored device with internet access or installed as a standalone router, with T4000 you only need one device to do everything.”
According to Ma Ching, the team is just getting started on upgrades with this Inner Range T4000 Pro Firmware Upgrade and there’s plenty more on the way.
