LOX ES90M Electric Strike Handles 25kg Preload – LOX Locking’s ES90M Electric Preload Strike, which will be on display at SAGE November 19 (register here) is a high-security mortice-mounted electric strike designed to release under up to 25kg of preload pressure.
According to the LOX Locking’s Marc Bindner, this capability addresses conditions such as air pressure differentials, door misalignment, door warpage and heavy weather seals that can affect conventional electric strikes.
Manufactured from high-grade stainless steel, the ES90M supports 10-30VDC operation and features power to open or power to lock operation selectable in the field, with the unit factory set to fail-secure and changeable to fail-safe. Holding strength is specified at up to 1300kg, while the strike has been tested to 2.5 million endurance cycles.
A 10mm strike lip is designed to reduce potential hazards, while the strike is pre-drilled to accept a range of optional extension lips. The ES90M has an IP54 environmental rating and is specified for operation from -10 to 60C, making it suitable for a range of door applications. LOX ES90M uses an Australian profile and comes with a 5-year warranty.
The monitored ES90M provides several status signals. Lock status monitoring identifies whether the lock is locked or unlocked, while a door and latch sensor monitors whether the door latch is engaged within the strike. Anti-tamper monitoring identifies when the strike has been removed from the frame. These functions provide access control systems with additional information about the physical state and security of the door.
Electrical characteristics include a nominal current draw of 350mA at 12VDC, falling to 180mA at 24VDC. Inrush current is specified at 1350mA at 12VDC and 680mA at 24VDC for less than 150ms. The strike is designed to integrate with access control systems and is compliant with the RCM, with S8 compliance to AS 4145.2-2008 for security and D8 compliance to AS 4142.2-2008 for durability. It’s also rated for up to 4 hours of fire resistance in accordance with AS 1905.1-2015.
