Access Control Plain Sailing For Crown Security In Recent Gate Upgrade.
Access Control Plain Sailing For Crown Security – Crown Security has completed a staged gate and access control upgrade for one of Australia’s largest sailing clubs.
The club supports more than 3000 members and there are frequent heavy vehicle and vessel movements, and the heart of the system is a CS Technologies’ Evolution access control already integrated with the club membership system.

According to Saverio Galanti, General Manager at Crown Security, access control was central to the brief given the scale of the membership base and the mixed-use nature of the site.
“The project commenced in December 2025 and focused on improving vehicle access management while retaining flexibility for the club’s operational requirements, including the need to open both entry lanes for large boats and truck movements,” Galanti said.
“The solution includes folding bollards designed by Crown Security technical solutions manager, Andrew Aldridge, which are integrated with a new Akuvox video intercom platform supplied by Security Distributors Australia. These bollards allow lanes to be reconfigured quickly while maintaining controlled access during normal operations.”
“Meanwhile, the Akuvox intercom system has also been integrated into the site’s Network Optix NX Witness video management system supplied by VSP, enabling live intercom video streams to be recorded and managed alongside the club’s wider CCTV deployment of more than 100 cameras.”

As part of the works, Crown Security integrated the Akuvox intercom door release into the egress path of the club’s existing CS Technologies Evolution access control system, allowing the access control platform to be retained while extending functionality. The Evolution system is already cleverly integrated with the club’s membership platform, enabling members to use their access tokens for both site entry and bar purchases.
The scope included new automated sliding gates as well as dual-height bollards supplied by Seadan Security to accommodate different vehicle types and access scenarios.
“Gate fabrication and automation were handled by ABA Automatic Gates in Perth, with whom Crown Security has an established working relationship – they did a great job,” Galanti said.
“From our perspective, this project demonstrates how modern intercoms, video platforms and access control can be integrated into existing infrastructure to deliver a practical outcome without the need for wholesale system replacement.”
