Ajax Transmitter Fibra – Something we liked at SecTech was Ajax Transmitter Fibra, a wired integration module designed to bring third-party devices into the Ajax ecosystem via the Fibra communication line.
The module allows connection of a single wired device, extending Ajax system capability beyond the Ajax product range. From an operational perspective, Transmitter Fibra is aimed at sites where legacy devices, specialist sensors or niche applications need to be retained while migrating to, or expanding, an Ajax system.
Supported device types include intrusion detectors, gas detectors, panic buttons, roller shutter motion detectors and third-party keypads used for managing system modes. This allows integrators to unify monitoring, control and reporting across mixed device environments.
Transmitter Fibra operates on Ajax’s Fibra wired protocol, which provides encrypted, 2-way communication between devices and the hub over a bus topology. Ajax specifies communication distances of up to 2000 metres, depending on cable type and topology, allowing deployment across larger sites and multi-building applications. The module includes a 12V DC output to power connected third-party devices, removing the need for a separate power supply in many applications and simplifying installation within existing enclosures.
From a system perspective, events generated by connected devices are transmitted into the Ajax ecosystem and delivered via push notifications, with support for multiple event types. This allows both end users and monitoring centres to receive more detailed and structured information compared to basic alarm inputs.
Transmitter Fibra supports Grade 3 installations, allowing integration of compliant third-party devices in higher-risk environments, including banking, critical infrastructure and high-value retail applications.
Physically, the module is compact and designed for installation inside third-party housings, making it suitable for retrofit applications where existing field devices are retained but system management is upgraded.
As part of the Fibra product line, Transmitter Fibra is restricted to Ajax accredited partners. Supply, installation and configuration are limited to trained installers, with system design and commissioning undertaken within Ajax’s professional ecosystem.
