AMS MSB62-333 Self-Latching Lock Monitoring Box – AMS Australia’s MSB62-333 Lock Monitoring Box is an SCEC-endorsed, 4-hour fire-rated solution designed to allow doors fitted with square bolt deadlocks to close and secure when the deadlock has been locked with the door open.
The problem, in plan
Why a thrown bolt stops a door closing
Throw a square bolt deadlock while the door is open and the door will not latch — the bolt hits the frame and the door bounces back. Switch views.
Why it matters: this is the combination fire regulations and security requirements create on doors fitted with square bolt deadlocks. The box lets the thrown bolt enter the frame rather than strike it, and its changeover contact reports the result to the security system. Plan view is schematic — not a fixing template, and door swing, bolt projection and frame depth are indicative.
The Australian-made MSB62-333 addresses the problem of a square bolt deadlock preventing a door from latching when its bolt is already in the thrown position. The monitoring box allows the thrown square bolt to enter the frame as the door closes, rather than striking the frame and causing the door to bounce open.
According to AMS Australia, the MSB62-333 is the only product designed to overcome the combination of fire regulations and security requirements associated with this type of square bolt deadlock installation. The unit is SCEC endorsed and has a 4-hour fire rating.
The MSB62-333 incorporates a changeover contact that can be used for multiple monitoring applications, with standard security wiring applied according to the requirements of the installation and security system.
Construction includes a stainless-steel box with a removable side for installation and servicing access, together with a stainless-steel face plate secured using security screws. An integrated lever-arm tamper switch is also included.
The MSB62-333 can be installed in steel, aluminium and timber frames and is supplied with a metal frame fixing kit. Minimum frame thickness is 45mm and compatibility extends to most square bolt deadlocks, as well as the AMS DLLH-33 Dual Lock Lever Handle.

SCEC endorsed and fire rated, so the one component answers both requirements on doors where a thrown square bolt would otherwise stop the door latching. The changeover contact means the same box that solves the mechanical problem also reports lock state back to the system.
