Synology Launches DVA7400 On-Prem AI Surveillance – Synology has released its DVA7400, a rackmount deep learning analytics appliance designed for large-scale, multi-site video surveillance deployments, with all processing and storage handled on-premises.

“The DVA7400 represents the culmination of Synology’s nearly 2 decades of expertise in physical security,” said Josh Lin, director of the Synology Surveillance Group.

“By combining centralised management for distributed camera fleets with completely localised AI analytics, it empowers enterprises to scale their surveillance infrastructure without compromising on data privacy.”

Built in a 2U 12-bay rackmount form factor, the DVA7400 is designed to manage up to 100 high-resolution camera streams while supporting up to 40 concurrent deep learning analytics tasks. Video recordings and associated metadata are processed and stored locally on the appliance, supporting environments where data sovereignty and regulatory compliance are critical.

The unit also operates as a central management server, enabling orchestration of cameras and recording servers across multiple sites via Synology’s Central Management System within Surveillance Station. This allows distributed deployments to be managed from a single interface without reliance on cloud infrastructure.

From an operational perspective, the DVA7400 introduces AI-driven search and investigation tools aimed at reducing review time. Semantic Video Search allows operators to query recorded footage using natural language across all connected streams, while a dedicated hardware accelerator ensures these searches do not impact real-time analytics performance.

Additional investigation tools include attribute-based search, allowing filtering by characteristics such as clothing or vehicle type, along with licence plate recognition and object tracking functions designed to reconstruct movement across multiple cameras and locations.

You also get real-time analytics including face recognition, intrusion detection, crowd detection and people and vehicle counting, supporting both security and operational use cases.
