ANSTO Seeks Expressions of Interest for Security Services Valued Between $A10 And $A20 Million.

ANSTO Seeks Expressions of Interest for Security – Australian Nuclear Science and Technology Organisation (ANSTO) has released a request for expressions of interest (EOI) for the provision of security services at its Lucas Heights facility in Sydney.

The successful security integrator will proceed to a multi-stage tender process, with the contract award expected in December 2025. While the designation nation of security services suggests manpower support, the estimated contract value of between $10 million and $20 million suggests there may be a more significant electronic security upgrade required.

Bidders must be registered companies with at least 10 years’ experience providing security services in nuclear, government or defence-related industries. In addition, they must demonstrate the ability to sponsor Australian Government security clearances to NV1 level, such as through membership in the Defence Industry Security Program.

The Lucas Heights site presents a unique operational and technical environment. The 70-hectare campus contains around 150 buildings and is protected by an extensive electronic and physical security framework.

When we visited the site way back in 2015 electronic security solutions included Geutebruck GSIM VMS and GTECT IVA analytics across a site-wide fibre backbone, as well as a Type 1 SCEC-endorsed Gallagher access control system.

Perimeter surveillance was supported by FLIR thermal cameras and optical PTZs in combination with intelligent video analytics, which allows detection zones to be dynamically configured based on environmental factors.

ANSTO houses the OPAL nuclear reactor and produces up to 12,000 doses of molybdenum-99 per week for domestic and international medical use.

Security operations at ANSTO are intelligence-led, support 24/7 Australian Federal Police response, and must comply with multiple regulatory frameworks, including PSPF, ISM, ASNO and ARPANSA requirements.

This ANSTO Seeks Expressions of Interest for Security EOI closes 4pm, August 5 – you can learn more here or read more SEN news here.
