New AXIS I5304 Answering Unit – Axis Communications has introduced its new AXIS I5304 Network Answering Unit, an IP-based answering device for office and commercial use.
The answering unit allows receptionists and concierges to visually verify and efficiently respond to visitor calls from network intercom systems, enhancing building security and convenience at entrances and reception areas.
The AXIS I5304 incorporates a 7-inch colour capacitive touchscreen (1024 x 600 pixels) for clear visual verification of visitors. The device provides high-quality video streaming at up to 1280×720 resolution and 30 frames per second, ensuring effective identification and communication with guests.
Its built-in microphone and speaker support clear 2-way, full-duplex audio communication, featuring advanced echo cancellation for better clarity during conversations. Audio encoding options include G.711, G.722, G.729, and L16/16 kHz.
Powered by 2N OS, the AXIS I5304 unit supports Power-over-Ethernet (PoE, IEEE 802.3af Type 1 Class 3), enabling a simplified and secure single-cable installation. Alternatively, the device can be powered by 12V DC. Typical power consumption is 2.9W, with a maximum of 12W.

The AXIS I5304 provides flexible mounting options. It can be installed on a desk using the AXIS TI5602 Desk Stand, mounted on a wall surface using the AXIS TI5601 Wall Mount, or recessed into walls with the AXIS TI5201 Recessed Mount accessory. The unit features a sleek tempered glass surface with a durable plastic casing, available in white (RAL 9016) or black (RAL 9005).
For network integration, the answering unit supports IPv4, SIP 2.0, SSL/TLS encryption, HTTPS, DHCP, NTP, TCP/IP, RTP, and other standard network protocols. It integrates easily with existing VoIP and SIP/PBX communication systems, supporting critical SIP features, such as DTMF.
In terms of cybersecurity, the AXIS I5304 complies with IEEE 802.1X authentication, TLS v1.2 encryption, and X.509 Certificate PKI. The unit is certified to various global standards, including CSA, UL/cUL, CE, VCCI, RCM, and FCC Class B, and complies with the TAA (Trade Agreements Act).
Operating conditions for the AXIS I5304 are from 0C to 50C, with non-condensing humidity from 10 to 90 per cent. It can be stored at temperatures ranging from -20C to 70C. The device weighs 555 grams and includes connectors for network (RJ45), power, and a doorbell input relay.
