The Department of Home Affairs CCTV and Enforcement Communications Section requires the services of a CCTV Network Engineer to support the delivery of the CCTV Enhancement project.

The network engineer will be responsible for analysing, designing, installing, configuring and repairing network infrastructure components. Performing a wide variety of tasks to ensure the CCTV network performance meets Home Affairs CCTV satisfaction and providing direction, information, and recommendations regarding network configurations and installations.

The services will include and not be limited to:

• Configuring and setting up Cisco and HPE switches and routers, VPN Concentrators and Security appliances for access to vital business applications;
• Designing, setting up and configuring complex switching environments;
• Maintaining a thorough understanding of Local Area Networking;
• Assisting in the design of multi-server environments including IP address schemes, DNS, WINS, Ether-Channel (Bonding);
• Configuring and installing client and server network software for upgrading and maintaining network systems;
• Maintaining multi-site network operations and software applications, operating systems and regular maintenance with both private and public facilities;
• Managing assigned projects and program components to deliver services in accordance with established objectives;
• Responding to enquiries from staff, administrators, service providers, site personnel and outside vendors to provide technical assistance and support;
• Supervising the administration of systems and servers related network to ensure availability of services to authorised users;
• Working within a delivery team to design and produce architecture related artefacts;
• Providing technical knowledge and leadership to the delivery area;
• Building and maintaining effective working relationships with Domain specific business owners, delivery teams and technical specialists;
• Communicating effectively with the Department’s decision makers and delivery teams to influence thinking and design;
• Liaising with project managers, developers, vendors, senior managers and clients to ensure solution designs meet user needs and deliver expected business outcomes; and
• Creating complete and accurate records in accordance with the Department’s record keeping policy instructions and guidelines.

The new network engineer will be expected to transfer skills and knowledge to departmental staff, to produce and provide input into a range of documentation that will be specific to business related outcomes and to maintain accurate documentation in relation to business and technical requirements.
