Axis has acquired Cognimatics, a company that provides store optimization solutions targeting the retail sector.  A few days earlier, Axis acquired 2N, a provider of IP intercom solutions.

“Cognimatics’ products are well-known with a successful track record in the retail sector, and complement our solutions in that market,” said Ray Mauritsson, CEO of Axis Communications. “Its commitment to developing innovative and easy-to-use products is consistent with Axis’ approach to provide the highest value solution for a range of customer needs. We are excited to be able to offer our partners and end users solutions that act as a natural complement to their existing Axis solutions.”

Cognimatics

Cognimatics is a privately owned Swedish company that offers video analytics applications that can be used to provide retailers with insightful behavioral intelligence. The two companies have cooperated for several years on both engineering and sales to provide integrated solutions to mutual customers.

Axis Communications earlier announced it had acquired Prague-based 2N, a provider of IP intercom solutions for the information and communications technologies (ICT) and physical security industries.

“The acquisition supports our ambition to contribute to a smarter and safer world,” said Peter Lindström, vice president, new business, Axis Communications. “There is an increased customer demand for integrated solutions with open standards that deliver enhanced security. Together with 2N we can meet that demand.

“We plan for development and growth for Axis as well as for 2N,” Lindström said. “The market is growing, and by acquiring 2N we can continue to drive the change in the market.”

According to Axis, the acquisition further strengthens Axis Communications’ solutions offering, while giving 2N access to Axis strong global sales channels. ♦
