DEPARTMENT of Defence is seeking a base entry precinct, including fire and security services, as part of the Larrakeyah Barracks redevelopment of facilities that will support naval operations in Australia’s North.

Larrakeyah Barracks, incorporating HMAS Coonawarra, is the main base for the Australian Defence Force in the Northern Territory of Australia, and occupies the headland west of the suburb of Larrakeyah in the capital, Darwin. It was established in 1932–33, with building commencing in earnest in 1934, although many of the oldest structures were built in the early years of World War II.

ADF units at Larrakeyah include Headquarters NORFORCE; HMAS Coonawarra—base supporting the Royal Australian Navy’s patrol boat and small amphibious craft forces; elements of the Royal Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers; Army Watercraft Troop; and Elements of NORFORCE.

The scope of civil and building works is holistic and includes road construction, including excavation works supply and install of sub grade sub base, base course, asphalt, interlocking paving, kerbing and any required testing.

Excavation and installation of services infrastructure including new services, redirections and temporary cutovers/diversions. Services include, sewer, stormwater, potable water, fire, communications, low voltage and high voltage electrical services, and security systems

The tender seeks complete construction of a number of new buildings in accordance with the specifications and drawings including all building works required for full completion and commissioning including certification. Buildings include;

* Pass Office
* Guard House
* ISS1
* Fire pump house
* Generator building

* Hard and soft landscaping of Base Entry Precinct including installation of reticulated irrigation.
* Fencing, line marking and signage
* Testing, Commissioning and Handover for all works.

The tender closes on July 9, 2018.
