David Dicker Steps Down as CEO of Dicker Data – Dicker Data co-founder David Dicker has stepped down from his roles as CEO, chair and director of the ASX-listed distribution company, which is the parent of Australian security distributor Dicker Access & Surveillance, after 4 decades of leadership.
Co-founder Fiona Brown has moved into an executive chair role, assuming oversight of the company’s experienced executive leadership team, comprising Vlad Mitnovetski, Mary Stojcevski and Ian Welch. Executive chair roles are powerful, covering operations and strategy, but they tend to be short term.
Dicker and Brown co-founded the business in 1978 and Dicker has played a central role in shaping its operations, strategy and culture. Under his leadership, Dicker Data has become a key distributor in the Australian IT market, expanded into new vendor lines, and completed the acquisitions of Express Data and Hills’ security and AV distribution business. The company listed on the ASX in 2011 and last year turned over around $A3.4 billion, up 2.4 per cent from the previous year.
In a recent interview with ARN, Dicker reflected on defining moments in the business, including the Compaq distribution deal and the 2014 Express Data acquisition. His departure marks the end of an era, but not a complete disconnection from the company. At the board’s request, Dicker has entered a 6-month consultancy agreement to provide strategic advice.
“Co-founding and leading Dicker Data has been an extraordinary journey and I am incredibly proud of what we’ve built together,” Dicker told ARN.
“As I embark on new ventures, I have full confidence that the leadership team that we put together some years ago will continue to drive the company forward with the same passion and dedication. It is business as usual with this leadership team who’ve been a strong executive unit for many years, continuing to ensure our success.”
