NICE has already received orders in excess of $US1 million for its advanced video security solutions, with deployment underway and the companies are currently formalizing a contract covering the supply of NICE technology to enhance security at its diamond mining, sorting and other sites around the world. During an ongoing implementation program, NICE advanced digital video solutions will replace existing analogue systems as and when dictated by the business case for these technology upgrades. These systems will allow De Beers to continue to maintain its operational standards and facilitate better decision making across De Beers’ land and sea mining environment by providing real-time monitoring and security threat detection. The NICE solution provides De Beers with consistent high-quality video with content analytics, multiple site monitoring, automatic alarm management, advanced transmission and high-performance recording. NICE was selected after a selection process initiated by De Beers to identify a preferred provider of critical security surveillance solutions. The process, which included market surveys, laboratory evaluations as well as proof of concept testing on group operations alongside other short-listed solutions, resulted in the provisional selection of NICE late in 2004. This provisional status has now been formalized. The selection process extended beyond technical, functional and pricing issues. With the intention being to develop a long term relationship, criteria applied by De Beers included sustainable global support, a willingness to participate in identifying and quantifying business value and an openness to factoring De Beers needs into future solution development. Doron Eidelman, President of NICE’s digital video security division said, “NICE is delighted to be selected as the preferred supplier of smart digital video and content analytics solutions for De Beers. “We look forward to building a solid, long lasting relationship with the ability to move technology forward to encompass the broad spectrum of diamond mining, processing and other activities.”
