DroneShield Wins Potential $A716m Counter-Drone Contract With US Department Of Defense Joint Interagency Task Force 401.
DroneShield Wins Potential $A716m Counter-Drone Contract – DroneShield has been awarded a potential A$716 million, 3-year contract with the US Department of Defense’s Joint Interagency Task Force 401 (JIATF-401).
The size of the contract highlights the scale at which counter-drone protection is being deployed across military, critical infrastructure and other high-priority sites globally. It also underscores the importance risk managers are placing on counter drone capabilities.
The Domestic Shield indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity (IDIQ) contract provides a procurement pathway for DroneShield’s counter-UAS technology and is intended to accelerate deployment in response to the evolving threat from small unmanned aircraft systems.
JIATF-401 is using the Domestic Shield initiative to accelerate access to counter-UAS capabilities for US homeland defence. The contract can cover technology for military installations, critical infrastructure and other priority locations, with individual orders to be announced separately.
“Defending against small UAS threats is an immediate homeland defence requirement, and rapidly fielding proven technology is critical to the mission,” said DroneShield director of strategic partnerships Nate Webb.
“DroneShield continues to field proven capabilities while investing in next-generation technology designed to evolve with the threat. This award provides a streamlined pathway to deliver those capabilities to end users who need them.”
The contract builds on DroneShield’s existing work with JIATF-401, including deployment and acceptance of its DroneSentry-X Mk2 on-the-move counter-UAS technology. DroneShield is also represented on the JIATF-401 Counter-UAS Marketplace, established to provide access to vetted counter-UAS technologies.
DroneShield’s counter-drone technology covers dismounted, mobile and fixed-site applications, including radio frequency sensing, electronic countermeasures, command and control, artificial intelligence and multi-sensor integration. Its modular architecture allows individual capabilities to be deployed independently or integrated with third-party sensors and effectors.
