Gallagher SMB Expands To 30 Doors – Gallagher Security has expanded the recommended capacity of its SMB access control platform to 30 doors per SMB controller, increasing the scope of the cloud-based system for small and medium business applications.

The 4-door base kit (3.5 A supply) and 10-door expanded system (dual cabinet, 8 A supply) are from SEN’s December 2021 review. Multiples are SEN calculations. Gallagher has not said what cabinet, power or reader hardware a 30-door site needs; confirm with Gallagher or a distributor.
Greater door capacity means installers and integrators can deploy SMB across larger sites while taking advantage of Gallagher’s flexible SMB solution, and with management handled through Gallagher’s cloud-connected platform and the SMB mobile app.
SMB Controller 6000 manages local access control and alarm functions while maintaining a connection to Gallagher Cloud for remote management. Access control continues locally if the internet connection is lost and updates event logs upon reconnection, while Gallagher’s SMB readers support smartphone, key tag, card and user-code credentials.

This system can also use Gallagher SMB HBUS I/O boards for additional monitored inputs and outputs, taking the system to an elevated level. The RS-485-based HBUS protocol supports communications over distances of up to 500m, with multiple boards able to share a cable run.

Meanwhile, inputs can monitor access-controlled doors, intrusion detectors, NO/NC alarms from plant and equipments, as well as from other contact devices, while relay outputs can be used for functions including door release and siren activation.
