Hikvision HikCentral Mini Cube Video And Access Control

Hikvision HikCentral Mini Cube Video And Access Control In A Compact Platform.

Hikvision HikCentral Mini Cube Video And Access Control – Hikvision’s HikCentral Mini Cube is a compact all-in-one security management platform designed for small and medium-sized businesses, combining video management, access control, monitoring, decoding, client and server functions in a tiny form factor.

The Mini Cube is supplied with HikCentral software pre-installed and licences pre-activated, with Windows 11 included. The standard configuration provides 64 video channels, with expansion available to 128 channels. Access control capacity extends from 8 doors in the pre-activated configuration to a maximum of 32 doors. The platform also supports ANPR, facial and body recognition and people-counting functions.

Hardware includes an i7 processor, 16 GB of memory and a 512 GB SSD. The chassis measures 197.5 x 177.4 x 41.2 mm and weighs 1.45 kg excluding the storage drive. It can be installed horizontally, vertically or mounted behind a monitor.

For video management, the system supports up to 128 cameras, including cameras accessed through ONVIF and third-party devices. The maximum configuration allows up to 8 ANPR cameras and 16 cameras for facial picture comparison and body recognition. HikCentral Mini Cube can also manage up to 64 external streaming servers.

In plain EnglishA whole security office in a box the size of a hardback
What it is
One small Windows 11 PC with HikCentral already installed and licensed. It is the video recorder, access-control server, client workstation and decoder in a single unit — nothing else to buy to get started.
Who it’s for
Small and medium businesses that want cameras and doors managed from one screen and one phone app, without a server rack or a separate VMS and ACS licence to look after.
What’s in the box
64 cameras and 8 doors ready to go. Grows to 128 cameras and 32 doors by licence. Works with Hikvision gear natively and with other brands through ONVIF, API and SDK — Dahua, Axis and Hanwha are named.
SEN’s reading of Hikvision’s release. “Ready to go” reflects the pre-installed, pre-activated software Hikvision describes. Price, Australian availability and the cost of the licence upgrades are not stated.

Video functions include live view and playback with automatic main and sub-stream switching, Smart/VCA Search, AcuSearch and AcuSeek, target retrieval and one-click playback. Vehicle and personnel management can be used for list management, alarm triggering and attribute-based searches, while PTZ cameras can be controlled from the video interface.

All figures as published by Hikvision. Only the 64-camera and 8-door counts are stated as pre-activated; whether ANPR, recognition and credential capacities are included out of the box or licensed separately is not said. Confirm before quoting.

Storage and recording are handled through the software platform, with multiple recording schedules supported. The published performance specification gives a video storage throughput of 600 Mbps and retention of captured faces, ANPR records, events, intelligent analysis data, access records and system logs for up to 3 years, subject to available storage. The system specification lists a storage capacity of up to 10 million records across these data types.

The access control functions support cards, fingerprints, face, iris and PIN credentials, with batch or temporary access permissions and real-time door status monitoring. Access control can be linked to video for verification, while the system supports up to 500 people, 1500 cards, 1000 fingerprints and 1000 irises in its maximum published configuration.

The platform supports multi-site management, with a single cloud account able to manage multiple servers. Remote management is available through the HikCentral mobile app, including live view and playback, alarm reception, remote door opening and closing, video intercom and searches across video content, access control logs and vehicle records. Where a local network connection is available, the system uses direct connection, while cloud routing is used where only internet connectivity is available.

Mini Cube’s ONVIF support allows third-party cameras to be incorporated, while native protocols and API/SDK support allow integration with devices from manufacturers, including Dahua, Axis and Hanwha.

Hardware connectivity includes 4 x USB 3.0, 4 x USB 2.0, 1 x USB Type-C, Gigabit Ethernet, HDMI and DisplayPort, along with front and rear audio connections. The operating temperature is specified at 0 to 35 degrees Celsius, with a storage temperature range of -20 to 60 degrees Celsius.

Day to dayWhat the owner actually does with it
From the phone app

  • Open or lock a door remotely
  • Answer the video intercom
  • Search video, door logs and vehicle records in one place
  • Manage several sites from one cloud login
From the main screen
  • Find a person or vehicle fast — Smart/VCA search, AcuSearch, AcuSeek, one-click playback
  • Keep watch-lists for plates and people and trigger alarms from them
  • Check a door event against the camera that saw it
  • Drive PTZ cameras from the video view
