IDEMIA has a won a 13-year, $A90 million contract renewal for the NAFIS NextGen cloud-based biometric solution to the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission, which will continue to empower Australia’s law enforcement agencies.
The existing ACIC program is the only national fingerprint and palmprint biometric capability in Australia and is searched by Australia’s law enforcement agencies 4245 times per day on average and the new National Automated Fingerprint Identification System (NAFIS) will support law enforcement operations at all levels.
“NAFIS NextGen will allow the ACIC to deliver an upgraded, fully supported system, with protected government cloud capability, advanced latent fingerprint processing and integration with partner agency systems,” said ACIC’s Michael Phelan.
“This will allow law enforcement agencies across Australia to use our biometric services to help solve crime and keep our community safe.”
IDEMIA president and CEO Pierre Barrial said the IDEMIA team was delighted with the partnership extension.
