Direct Alarm Supplies is distributing Risco Group’s
brilliant WatchIN detector – an Industrial Wall-Mount Dual Technology Grade 3
Detector that’s employs 2 PIR channels and 2 Microwave channels for detection.
THIS powerful new sensor from DAS is the twin of Risco
Group’s award winning WatchOUT detector and it’s an exception piece of kit. The
WatchIN sensor is suited to harsh industrial environments, such as production
areas with operating machinery, construction sites, shipyards and hangars.
The strength of the sensor is in the smarts and WatchIN
has plenty. It incorporates RISCO Group’s most advanced detection technologies
including Sway Recognition, Anti-Cloak Technology, Active Infrared for
Anti-mask and GreenLine Technology. The unit has an IP65 environment rating,
which protects from dust, insects and extreme humidity.
While many sensors rely on lots of processing to govern
their decision making, WatchIN is different. This is a sensor that’s fed so
much information it’s not being forced to rely almost solely on difficult
software thresholds to get the job down.
WatchIN has 2 microwave sensors and 2 PIRs that provide
plenty of data for the processors to chew on. This is important in industrial
environments because industrial environments are tough in myriad ways – from
dust and smoke to vandalism to extremes of temperature and the presence of
wildlife.
In order to handle the challenges WatchIN exercises
Selective Event Recognition to distinguish between false alarms and real site
intrusion events. The Selective Event Recognition is enabled by the two new
breakthrough Rokonet technologies.
The first is Digital Correlation Technology that compares
the signals of 2 PIR channels with separate optics to ensure that only targets creating
a similar and correlated signal in both PIR channels will trigger an alarm.
This eliminates false alarms from rapid temperature changes, headlights, air
currents and pets up to 70cm (2’4’) head height.
Digital Correlation Technology depends on each of the
PIRs having separate lenses that create a vertical interlaced detection pattern
and that’s exactly what WatchIN has. It’s a design that’s offers significant
advantages over other twin element PIRs which can go onto alarm if the 2
separate PIRs false alarm for completely different reasons.
The second new development is Sway Recognition Technology
which uses 2 Microwave channels for recognizing and excluding swaying objects
such as cables, ropes, and tree limbs. This sway recognition is facilitated by
the 2 microwave sensors that enable the unit to distinguish between microwave
pulses of approaching or receding targets so they can work out the net distance
away an object is. What all this does is allow the sensor to establish whether
or not an object is moving or just swaying.
Another feature of this unit that allows it to handle
industrial applications is anti-masking and dirty lens protection. The
anti-masking protection is achieved by 4 active IR channels that continuously
monitor and warn of lens masking attempts. These IR channels provide a dirty
lens alert via a separate output that sends a signal advising the lens needs
cleaning.
In terms of range, WatchIN gives 90-degree coverage over
15 metres or a narrow curtain of 5 degrees over a range of 23 metres. For
outdoor applications in and around buildings and covered areas, both these
ranges are more than adequate and also provide the ability to project detection
across adjacent walkways and roadways.
WatchIN detectors include an optional camera and unique
remote control & diagnostic capabilities when installed with ProSYS
Integrated Security Systems. The detector has a wide range of professional
swivels and a MW “Anti-Collision” feature that enables adjacent detector
installations. Additional features include Active IR for Anti-Mask and “Dirty Lens” alerts, a protective hood and IP65
environmental rating.
Other features include a wide range of swivels for wall,
pole, or barrier application, a 1.0m to 2.7m installation height, an active IR
anti-mask and anti-vandal wire protection for all brackets and that IP65
environment rating. There’s also protective shielding for blocking out white
light including headlights and flashes of sunlight from metal or glass in the
target area, allowing only IR energy to reach PIR sensors.
