With Z-Wave, Intel plans to gain wireless control of a wide array of home devices, including lights, appliances, HVAC systems, entertainment, access control and security systems.
Z-Wave, an interoperable radio-based wireless mesh networking technology, is already available in wireless home control and automation products from leading consumer brands. Intel is one of more than 125 companies to join the Z-Wave Alliance to develop wireless home control products.
Some of the other firms include Leviton, Logitech, Linksys, Intermatic, Wayne Dalton, Danfoss and Universal Electronics.
