HSM, headquartered in Lisle, IL, is the largest privately held electronic commercial security company in the United States with 50 offices in over 100 major metropolitan markets. HSM designs, installs and services security systems for both commercial and residential customers, serving over 175,000 customers nationally. According to the magazine, applicants are rated in five categories, including stability of the company and its appeal as a prospective employer; pattern of growth; market strengths and service to customers; company accomplishments; and industry/community involvement. SDM Magazine’s editors, in selecting HSM as “Dealer of the Year,” were impressed with the company’s fast-track roll out of infrastructure since its primary acquisition of Honeywell Security Monitoring, its aggressive approach to hiring and retaining top-notch employees, and its high-quality programs aimed at providing customers with a local touch from a national platform. According to Timothy Whall, president and chief operating officer of HSM since its inception in July 2004, “This is an incredible and humbling honor for HSM and its employees to receive. “We have all worked diligently over the past 18 months to grow this company, and have seen remarkable results, both through increased total revenues and the addition of more than 300 associates to our workforce. “With all that we have put in place in a relatively short amount of time, HSM is now poised to have all the national resources to be a world-class provider,” continues Whall. “HSM is a company to watch in 2006,” said Laura Stepanek, SDM Magazine’s editor/associate publisher. “It is well-structured to have a positive influence on the buyer market across the United States, potentially raising demand for all electronic security service providers.”
