LAING O’Rourke is currently tendering for the managing contractor role for this large-scale project and is now requesting Registrations of Interest (ROI) from security and CCTV subcontractors interested in participating in this exciting South Australian Project. Delivery Phase works are scheduled to commence in Q1 2019 and be completed in 2026.

The project is part of the Commonwealth Government’s Naval Shipbuilding Plan announced in May 2017 which sets out the strategic approach to building a long-term, sustainable naval shipbuilding and ship sustainment capability in Australia. The rapidly expanding Osborne Naval Shipbuilding Precinct currently consists of shipbuilding and submarine maintenance facilities which support ASC for the delivery of the BAE Type 26 Hunter Class frigates, air war destroyers, maintenance of the Collins Class submarines, as well as development of future submarines.

Shipbuilding facilities include a 213-metre wharf, runway, dry berth, transfer system and the largest ship lift in the southern hemisphere; a commercial and education precinct, including the Naval Shipbuilding College – delivering the trade and technical skills required for future shipbuilding projects and the AWD Systems Centre – the national headquarters for the $A8 billion project, as well as Raytheon Australia’s South Australian headquarters.

The precinct is located at Osborne, 25 kilometres north-west of Adelaide’s CBD, and is a 35-minute drive from Adelaide International Airport. It is also close to major national defence precincts Technology Park Adelaide and the Edinburgh Defence Precinct, home of RAAF Base Edinburgh and the Defence Science and Technology Group.

The Laing O’Rourke tender for security systems and CCTV closes July 11, 2018.
