Launceston Airport goes JVC

A COMPREHENSIVE integrated CCTV system is to be installed
at LauncestonAirport by JVC Professional’s Tasmanian
distributor, Electronic Display Systems Tasmania. The installation will add 45
cameras to 22 existing cameras that monitor the airport’s carparks.

“We have been a supplier to LauncestonAirport
for over eight years and they have been a very loyal customer,” EDS general manager
Derek Philipson says. “When the airport decided that they needed an enhanced
and integrated CCTV system, they approached us to bid for the job and we
provided them with a JVC TK-C215VP12 and TK-C215V4 camera solution.”

With ever expanding air traffic, Launceston airport has
grown consistently in recent years and it was this growth that drove the
requirement for a major CCTV system.

“All airports need CCTV to manage and monitor people
movement as well as security,” Philipson says. “LauncestonAirport
is very safety and security conscious and we had already installed a 22-camera
CCTV system into their car parks when the second phase CCTV system was
discussed.”

With the 22-camera car park installation almost complete,
LauncestonAirport again approached EDS for an
extension of the project that would include an additional 45 cameras.

 “For the 45-camera
solution we proposed the JVC TK-C215VP12 and TK-C215V4 series cameras as they
have been so well received on many other projects and have proven to
be very successful,” explains Philipson.

“The cameras offer high resolution and are
very reliable – which is great for us as installers and even better for
the clients.”

The TK-C215VP12 colour CCD surveillance camera boasts an
outdoor-ready vandal resistant structure (compliant with IP66) and is built to
withstand shock, rain or extreme temperatures (operating temperature of -10°C
to +50°C). It has a ¼-inch CCD with 440,000 effective pixels, 540 TV lines of horizontal
resolution and super-LoLux sensitivity: 1.3 lx (colour), 0.8 lx (B&W).

The TK-C215VP12 also allows easy day/night function and
has a triple axis rotation system for wide lens adjustment: horizontal 350°,
vertical ± 70°, rotation ± 175°. Other features include an alarm zoom function,
easy focus adjustment, extra monitor video output (RCA inside), automatic gain
control (AGC) on/off, auto tracking white balance (ATW) and manual modes:
2,300K to 10,000K, backlight compensation (BLC) on/off. The TK-C215VP12 runs
off a AC 24/ DC 12V power supply.

Meanwhile, the TK-C215V4E camera is a 1/4″ high
resolution, 540TVL, digital signal processing colour/B/W day/night dome camera
with 2.8-10mm auto iris vari-focal lens. The TK-C215V4E allows surface or
recess installation with no extra brackets and is 12VDC or 24VAC w/line-lock.

The JVC TK-C215VP12 and TK-C215V4 series cameras are
particularly easy to install and the on-board video output makes set up
particularly straightforward in areas that involve both day and night time
traffic.

“The LauncestonAirport team was happy
with the proven performance and efficiencies of the JVC cameras and these will
now be installed in all areas of their new flagship terminal development,”
Philipson says.

“This also means installing cameras into areas not
accessible by the public and where the cameras are used to capture images of
any personnel entering a secure part of the airport. This is a major
installation and we are delighted to again be part of upgrading one of Tasmania’s key
airports.”

EDS will complete the 45-camera JVC CCTV installation at LauncestonAirport in February 2009. The company’s
other major clients include Aurora Stadium, Country Club Tasmania and Strahan Village Resort.

“For the 45-camera solution we proposed the JVC TK-C215VP12 and
TK-C215V4 series cameras as they have been so well received on many other
projects and have proven to be very successful”
