New Allegion Outdoor Defense Von Duprin 98/99 Exit Devices.
New Allegion Outdoor Defense Von Duprin Exit – Allegion has released an Outdoor Defense (OUT) option for its Von Duprin 98/99 Series exit devices, designed to protect critical hardware components in external environments.
The OUT option supports mechanical and electronic models and is intended to safeguard against moisture, temperature variation and corrosion. The variant is available for both rim and surface vertical rod devices and is suited to external installations including courtyards, rooftops, patios and perimeter doors.
It also supports several Von Duprin electronic configurations, including quiet electric latch retraction (QEL), alarmed exit (ALK), delayed egress (CX), and monitoring via RX and LX switches. The OUT option is also compatible with mechanical configurations and offers fire-rated and security closer variants.
Available for the New Allegion Outdoor Defense Von Duprin Exit 98/99 push pad exit devices, this option provides additional environmental protection to key components, supporting reliable operation in outdoor environments.
Products are tested across a temperature range from -35C to 66C in accordance with UL294 Section 81 and UL1034 Section 34.2. Moisture resistance is validated with rain testing at 4.8 gallons per minute, as per UL294 Section 79 and UL1034 Section 53. Corrosion resistance is assessed through salt fog testing, using 5 per cent and 20 per cent salt concentrations per UL294 Section 83.2 and UL1034 Section 52. Dust resistance is tested according to UL294 Section 80 and UL1034 Section 54.
XP98/99 rim exit devices, used with or without mullions, incorporate a smart latch that deforms under external force to maintain door security. A patented latch bolt provides extended contact with the strike and resists twisting forces caused by door frame flex.
These devices are certified to ANSI/BHMA A156.3 Grade 1 and are UL listed for panic exit hardware. Standard finishes include 605, 606, 612, 625, 626/626AM, 628, 710, 711 and 643e, with 619 and 630 available for the 98 Series only.
The XP98/99 series includes options for electrified functions such as emergency lockdown (ESL), cylinder and hex key dogging with indicators, waterproof request to exit (WP-RX), and Allegion Connect (CON).
Mechanical variants support accessible configurations (AX), special dogging, and additional protection options including security screws, weep holes, and sex bolts. The devices are supplied non-handed unless specific configurations require handed operation.
Device centre cases measure 203 mm x 70 mm x 60 mm, and pushbar projections are 97 mm in neutral and 78 mm when depressed. Installation covers standard 86 or 161 cutouts for single doors and may be compatible with pairs depending on template requirements.
