New METIS-E Electric Bollard System – Ezi Security Systems has introduced the METIS-E all-electric bollard system by EL-GO Team to the Australian market.
Designed to reduce installation complexity while delivering high-level hostile vehicle mitigation (HVM) performance, the METIS-E system represents a shift away from traditional hydraulic and pneumatic retractable bollard technologies.
Unlike conventional systems, the METIS-E is powered by an all-electric drive unit, eliminating the need for hydraulic oil or air compressors. This approach enhances reliability, reduces maintenance requirements, and eliminates environmental risks associated with fluid leaks. The use of a chain drive system contributes to simpler mechanics and increased operational efficiency.
The METIS-E bollards can be deployed without major civil works. These bollards are compatible with any existing concrete pad at least 200mm thick, using standard anchor bolts. This significantly reduces site disruption and enables rapid installation. The system is fully plug-and-play and includes all control components integrated into the barrier housing, removing the need for a separate control cabinet.
In the event of a power failure, the METIS-E bollards can be operated manually. Additional safety features include inductive limit switches and infrared safety sensors. High-visibility LED lighting supports the unit’s clean, architectural design.
With an IWA-14 rating of V/7200[N2A]/48/90:0, the METIS-E achieved zero penetration during physical crash testing at 48kmph. This rating demonstrates its capability to prevent vehicle intrusion and secure critical infrastructure in a range of applications.
According to Ezi Security, the system is suitable for locations requiring high security and low visual impact, including government sites, event spaces, transport hubs, and commercial buildings.
