Avigilon Alta Embedded USB Smart Reader – Alta Access OP-R2X-EMBD Embedded USB Smart Reader is available in black or white and low and high frequency versions from local distributor, BGW Technologies.
Designed for use in Avigilon access control systems, this IP65 embedded reader accommodates USB and RS-485 connectivity and can be installed in kiosks, turnstiles, elevators, or behind panels. It also supports a desktop mounting configuration using an optional bracket.
The device supports mobile credentials via Bluetooth, NFC (Android only), and Wi-Fi, with functions including auto proximity unlock and Wave to Unlock. Card compatibility spans low-frequency (125kHz) and high-frequency (13.56MHz) technologies, supporting Avigilon DESFire EV3 and a wide range of MIFARE formats, as well as HID and LenelProx cards.
The reader can be integrated with identity providers such as Okta, Microsoft Active Directory, and Google for streamlined mobile credential provisioning. There’s no onboard data storage and the reader incorporates end-to-end encryption and public-key cryptography. Real-time access event visibility is supported through cloud management, with remote unlocking at a user-privilege level.
LED indicators show power, access, connection, and provisioning status. Power consumption is 0.5A at 5V DC (USB), 0.25A at 12V DC, or 0.12A at 24V DC. The reader measures 107g, has a 305mm pigtail, and supports IP65-rated indoor/outdoor use. Operating temperatures range from -30C to 60C. Certifications include FCC, IC, CE, UKCA, UL 294, and RCM, with compliance to NDAA and TAA and there’s a lifetime limited warranty.
